I just mentioned this to my wife yesterday while walking around the lake in our neighborhood. We saw a sign that said “Don’t drink the water”. Do we really need a sign that warns people not to drink the water in the lake???

Labels and signs are a way for companies and estates to cover possibilities for legal reasons, and not because people are stupid. Accidents happen even under the best of conditions, and liability can be assigned if the bases aren't met - which means implementing signs that state the obvious. It would be wise to take a good look in the mirror before you run around calling other people idiots.

Could it be they're concerned there's a hidden camera recording the intersection, and they want to avoid a fine? Who wants that hassle? A camera functions like a police officer. Only the intersection's camera cannot exercise reasoned judgment.

The late 90's was the cut off. The world is a safer place for people with low IQs and every day items aren't killing as many as they did in the past. Millennials were the last generation to have freedom. When I was a kid, I had dads that would run the merygorounds so fast that they could have launched us into space if we weren't holding on so tight. Now some schools have students wearing helmets just when playing with mountain parachutes in gym class. Millennial boys treated girls like boys. Dodgeball could have broken my nose if I didn't know how to duck in time for it to hit my forehead. Even psychologists like Jordan Peterson are studying the effects of people being raised in environments too sheltered and safe from almost all danger.
