Here's a "what if" storyline of John Cena being heel by Bing AI lol: - John Cena wins the WWE Championship from The Rock at WrestleMania 29, but instead of celebrating with the fans, he attacks The Rock after the match and delivers a vicious promo, saying that he is sick and tired of being booed and disrespected by the fans who don't appreciate his hard work and dedication. He says that he doesn't need the fans anymore and that he is the best in the world. - The next night on Raw, Cena reveals that he has aligned himself with Paul Heyman, who becomes his new manager and mouthpiece. Heyman praises Cena as the greatest WWE Champion of all time and says that no one can touch him. Cena adopts a new attitude and attire, wearing suits and sunglasses and acting arrogant and cocky. He also changes his entrance music to a rap song that insults the fans and his opponents. - Cena's first feud as a heel is with Daniel Bryan, who wins the Money in the Bank briefcase and challenges Cena for the title at SummerSlam. Cena mocks Bryan for his size, appearance and fanbase, calling him a goat-faced loser who doesn't belong in the main event. Bryan vows to prove Cena wrong and make him tap out. At SummerSlam, Cena cheats to retain his title by hitting Bryan with a low blow and then making him pass out to the STF. - Cena's next feud is with CM Punk, who returns from his hiatus and confronts Cena on Raw. Punk says that he is back to take back what is rightfully his: the WWE Championship. He says that Cena has betrayed everything he stood for and has become a sellout and a hypocrite. He says that he will expose Cena as a fraud and a phony at Survivor Series. Cena responds by saying that Punk is just jealous of his success and that he is a quitter who ran away from WWE. He says that he will shut Punk up once and for all at Survivor Series. At Survivor Series, Cena retains his title by using brass knuckles behind the referee's back and then hitting Punk with an Attitude Adjustment. - Cena's final feud as a heel is with The Undertaker, who challenges Cena for the title at WrestleMania 30. The Undertaker says that he respects Cena as a competitor, but he doesn't respect him as a champion or a man. He says that Cena has lost his way and has become corrupted by power and greed. He says that he will end Cena's reign of terror and preserve his own legacy by defeating him at WrestleMania. Cena says that he doesn't care about The Undertaker's legacy or his streak. He says that he only cares about himself and his title. He says that he will do whatever it takes to beat The Undertaker and break his streak at WrestleMania. At WrestleMania 30, Cena loses his title and his heel run ends when The Undertaker pins him after three Tombstone Piledrivers.

He was a heel, but he gathered steam and attention and turned face. I mean, in Cena's opinion; if they booed him, he's a heel. Maybe if Daniel Bryan was 100% consistently healthy and gained more popularity simultaneously, doing more Make-A-Wishes (and/or Roman, too), Cena would've turned completely.

When you become bigger than the business itself, then you ARE the business, they can't break it just like that, they need to wait until it no profitable anymore and THEN do a turn, like Hulk Hogan when no one gave a shit anymore then they turned him, sadly in this case John Cena never stopped producing money for WWE, therefore they never turned him back.

Smackdown was always PG. WWF/WWE was only PG-13 between 1997-2008. The product going stale had nothing to do with the rating. The things people complain about won't be fixed by a change in rating. Chairshots to the head were banned because of a concern with concussions. Sexual content (ie bra and panties matches) isn't possible now because of the current social climate. The Jerry Springer-esque programming on RAW wouldn't work nowadays. It's not 1999 anymore, large corporations won't sponsor programming that showcases Chris Jericho making fun of Stephanie McMahon's fake tits.

If I remember correctly, the first hour of WWF RAW was PG until like 1999 (PG for 1999 standards). Shitty writing with a PG-14 rating is still shitty. It's not the rating that changed it's TV culture that changed. Today, you can't get away with the edgier content of the late 90s. That doesn't mean the writing has to be as unimaginative as it is now.
