I got a thrill from that too. I was thinking that as part of the act, I wanted to see Michael Myers come out on the stage, repeatedly stab John Carpenter and then take over playing the keyboard. That would have been awesome.

It's the Greatest horror theme, well suited for the greatest Horror movie next to the Excorcist.

Easily the best Horror theme ever made. The song induces dread, panic, sense of urgency and erratic fear. It’s just so perfect. It’s so rememberable and instantly recognisable.

For me it's how the 1978 movie ends with Michael's heavy breathing and that scene where Laurie breaks down after an extremely traumatizing night. Always gives me the chilly chills

I always look at Laurie's breakdown as the fact that she saw in Loomis' eyes that Michael was not dead and that it wasnt over. And you're right, that ending is what did it for me too. How they flash to all the spots in the movie that should have killed him but yet he still lived.

John Carpenter is so immensely talented. He and Debra Hill were such an amazing team together...people do not really realize how much he did in the original Halloween..he wrote the movie with Debra..he wrote the music himself...such a tremendous talent

If you think of it as 2 slow and 2 fast beats it helps when writing music of your own to feel the pulse. 2 dotted quarters and 2 regular quarters.

The was my ring tone for Halloween for a number of years. This and the Saw Theme are magnificent.

When that music dropped instantly gave me cold chills. Best music score ever in cinema bar none!

One of the major reasons why John Carpenter movies are so successful is due to his uncanny ability to create music that is so incredibly ominous that it provokes feelings of imminent doom and unrelenting tension among the audience. He is famous for the Halloween soundtrack, but his other movies like The Fog, Escape From New York, The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, and They Live all had excellent soundtracks too. My personal favorite is Halloween III. The soundtrack for that entire movie is frickin creepy!

I know I usually have this as my ringtone. Hell, I even play the theme song in my jeep when I'm driving.....long or short trip. Could never get sick of this theme.
