John Brzenk vs Europe's Strongest Man

Спорт

March 10th 2013 at the FitX Sports & Fitness Expo in Melbourne, and the challenge was set to beat the greatest armwrestler of all time, John Brzenk, in an armwrestling match for $1000 cash. A huge thanks for our sponsors Bulk Nutrients and Volvo Skid Steer Loaders, and of course FitX for giving us the stage time to host this challenge in front of such a huge audience!

    Humble is great. It's also good to have a few 'personalities' in the sport as long as it's within reason. They're the ones that bring in the most attention. Arm wrestling is one of the most competitive sports there is - usually a few seconds of brute strength, adrenaline and testosterone. A humble psyche isn't necessarily going to give you an edge. You have to expect most meatheads to get loud and sure of themselves, ready to go. Then when you win it's hard to suddenly bottle all of that drive. People like John should be appreciated but not expected.

    ***** That guy is Lars Rørbakken, and although he really is a top-level strongman, he's not even CLOSE to being the strongest one. (Not saying that the strongest one would beat Brzenk or do better, since not all strongmen specialize in arm wrestling.)

  • @lepe

    @lepe

    9 жыл бұрын

    ***** I thought you meant the strongest in the world, my apologies. He's definitely one of the strongest in Norway. It also appears that arm wrestling is his specialty, and it's obvious from the video. Despite weighing a lot less, I think Brzenk had a big advantage when it comes to how strong his wrist and grip are. Lars simply could not prevent the hook, so I think that's something to work on.

  • @lepe

    @lepe

    9 жыл бұрын

    ***** Cyplenkov is nothing short of a freakshow nowadays. The amount of growth hormone he took completely changed his appearance, he looks ridiculous. And he still can't beat Brzenk. I think with some work on his wrist Lars can definitely be a pretty high level arm wrestler. His relatively skinny legs do make him look unbalanced though (not that it really matters in pure arm wrestling).

  • @brentlionakaboldchamp

    @brentlionakaboldchamp

    9 жыл бұрын

    Herp Derp Brzenk`s grip is not that strong....considering his status as an arm wrestler. He can`t even close the #3 coc, but several men in smaller weight classes can, and Lars likely can, as well. It`s his arm strength that matters, and technique. As long as you know which way the arm wrestler is pulling, you can adjust to them.

    @@Dan91 he may be a professional arm wrestler, however that doesn't mean he can't break his arm. In arm wrestling there is a rule that your shoulder should not go below your elbow as it places your bones in a spiral position and hence easy to break. You can even see the ref warn him for this... so yea that's my 2 cents reply 4 years later

    Nah....he is a professional arm wrestler, using a fairly common technique, called the flop-wrist press. I have tried it before, and its generally a very comfortable position if you know what you are doing. But he might have suffered a bit of a slight injury which might nag him for a few weeks, just because his match was so long and tough.

    Superb example of managing the opposing force. John uses the strength of his opponent (technique for heavier than him) to overthrow him. He lets his opponent get tired in the first moments and then begins a gentle ascent when the pressure is released. Then he braces the arm of his opponent who can only suffer. and as soon as his opponent gives up his arms, he has only to exert pressure to win the match. Sublime! intelligence, strength and humility (knowing one's physical strength in relation to one's adversaries)

    Um detalhe que vejo muita gente não levando em consideração, é que o John foi contra mais 50 pessoas nesse evento, com um tempo de descanso mínimo. E entre essas pessoas, haviam competidores de Armwrestling, e isso obviamente cansa muito. Tendo isso em mente, acredito que em uma luta única, Brzenk ganharia o strongman em um único hook, sem muito esforço.
