I hope his career continues 'cause he's a fantastic actor and he seems like a genuinely fun guy to be around. I loved him in Doctor Who. His character shines through and it's a friendly, silly, excitable character, not a creep.

Sadly I don’t think that’s the case because since the allegations came out he’s been getting fewer roles because he hasn’t really appeared in anything the last two years. He wasn’t asked back for Jodie’s final Doctor Who episode or the Dr Who 60th Anniversary Specials. I’m worried his career might never recover despite his claim that the accusations were blown out of proportions and despite the fact that most of his fans were willing to forgive him. He said in a recent Instagram video that the last couple of years have not been easy for him. He might actually be blacklisted/cancelled.

He was born in Scotland and he moved to America when he was 8 or 9. He was bullied at school because of his accent and instead of letting it be, he thought "Hey, I can play that game too" and he learnt how to speak with an American accent.

this is the first time I have heard JB with his native Scottish accent.

Great job, John. Sometimes it takes an explanation, no honor was ever lost.

I will always love John. We all change over the years and things change. What was ok years ago changes and we all have to adjust. We can’t go back in time and change things.

He seems to be a guy who didn’t mean harm but just took his eccentric behaviour too far. He screwed up and should apologise but he’s not a bad guy. I know I might be wrong, I’m just giving my take of what seems to have happened.

The thing is it wasn't acceptable back then either? Julie confirmed she received complaints and JB was reprimanded for these bahaviours back in 2008, like on set. I love him and I've no doubt he didn't have an ounce of malicious intent and the point about changing and growing makes sense, but I feel part of that should be to be able to recognise the harm that was done. It wouldn't be a new apology anyway, JB released a statement saying he apologised back then too. Asking him to apologize now is just asking him to recognise that apology. I wish he had just said he still feels sorry about it and wouldn't do it now. It's better than getting defensive about it.@FlyingMonkies325

Man he is a such a great actor and I hope he gets another break.

He is a camp, gay man with a bawdy, backstage sense of humour. The people that make complaints have quite possibly not had the same life experience as John. The stage is salacious. It’s only when he’s with his family or if he’s speaking to a Scot like Lorraine here for example. John uses his original Scottish accent.

Am I the only one who knew he was American but genuinely didn’t know he was Scottish?!

It seems theres a bit of a comment war going on so heres what is happening (as far as im aware) he was from scotland but moved to america and was bullied for his accent so bacme american however being with lorraine and her being scottish meant he reverted to his scottish accent

Dang I’m all about holding people accountable but I totally understand his point of view I hope I’m not just biased because I liked torchwood and love doctor who but I really hope he’s able to come back from this (just found out bout this controversy)

It was that horrible Noel dude who deflected from his sexual harassment by grassing John up.

Even after noticeably filling out physically, John looks better than most men his age. Even with the full face.

You cannot apply today's values to a situation that happened 15 years ago. Sexual harrassment is UNWANTED advances. If all parties are just having fun (as they were), then there is no issue.

I didn't realize he was Scottish, I have thought all along that he was Canadian.

People actually knew about this years ago; John even mentioned it in his autobiography, and the girl who replaced Billie Piper in Dr Who (Sorry, can't remember her name) mentioned it in an interview many years ago. Why are people waiting 15 years to reveal their pitchforks? I don't by any means condone what John did, but people should stop digging up the past and using it as a ticket to jump on the cancel culture train.

It’s all about consent. If nobody’s feeling wronged, I don’t know what the problem is. Obviously “it was a different time” is a stupid argument, because at one time it was perfectly acceptable to own slaves. You can’t chalk that up to a “different time.” But if there are no victims, there is no crime. What did he do exactly? Flirt with people? That’s kind of his character on the show.

Will hopefully see john at comic con newcastle upon Tyne, as for what John's just said to lorrain , for gods sake , everyone's made mistakes in life and had a bit of fun , that's all it was , having fun .

If he would have been told to stop, if cast were coming out and saying how offended they were, there might be an issue. But none of that happened. Its time to move on as he said and bring back Torchwood. Nobody really cares about this!
