I know paid him off with a six figure sum then moved him on to Spain for almost double what he was earning in the UK..terrible how these millionaires are treated...

Agreed mate. I was devastated when I saw the interview of him saying he was leaving, and he didn't want to leave. Was like watching a man being thrown out by his wife despite adoring her. Same when we sold Robbie. Both of them still cut me now and it's been decades past.

I forgot all about this. I was at work that Tuesday night finishing at 10pm but we kept up to date with the scores thanks to the radio. Amazing to think that this is now 34 years ago but less than six months after Hillsborough. Despite the defeat Palace did not get relegated at the end of that season and made it to the FA Cup Final.

The ironic thing about letting Aldridge go at this stage ,way before his time ,cos he was just awesome..was the fact we met the same palace in the fa cup semi final and lost after extra time 4.3 If Aldo had still been here ,he'd have made a massive alternative difference 👊♥️🙏 Aldo ♥️YNWA

He was always a stop gap till Rush returned. Rush left & Kenny gave him a guarantee his place would be open. Liverpool could be brutal when telling players there's no place for him. Would you rather not have Rush back, thats what you must ask yourself. Tough, but thats football.

Aldridge said or did something. Kenny got hold of it, toast. No other reason given his amazing scoring record, Rush aside, they would get rid of him at 31. He made good money out of Liveerpool and Real S, but as a Utd fan, i was relieved he was gone. The proof is Liv 88 were far far better with Aldridge than Liv 90 without him.

No teli text no internet game wasnt live on teli I had no idea what score it was I recall my radio wasn't Working too . Had newly started high school me I remember it was only a few Days in my high school I was really shy I had to ask my teacher at school the next day what score it was he sed WOW FINALLY YOU'VE SPOKE zafar after a week of being in new school you havent sed a word

What a strange piece of commentary for the first goal 'and Nicol laces it into the far corner' but it's laces were nowhere near it, it was the most side footed finish you'll ever see.

Seems crazy to have sold him, he may not have started but was willing to fight for his place. Was it sheer economics or was there a foreign player rule at the time?
