Johari window example in 5 minutes
The Johari window is a technique developed in 1955 by psychologists Joseph Luft and Harrington Ingham. It can be used to explain the difference between the things you know about yourself compared to the perceptions others have of you. The idea is that the more these perceptions align, the stronger the relationships you build with others.
This episode is the first in a two part series.
Part 1: Explains the Johari window using a quick worked example
Part 2: Discusses how this way of thinking might be applied to understanding the scope of a complex project
The second part is not the way Luft and Ingham intended the model to be used, but I think there are some interesting parallels between understanding a person, and understanding a project. If nothing else its an idea for you to ponder.

Happy to help 😀
Thank you very much for making an excellent explanation on Johari window application..
Very lucid. Well explained.
THIS VIDEO IS SO HELPFUL TO ME. THANKS
Thank you!
Thanks for explaining this model in such a simple way
I've been looking for this everywhere. Thank you for making this video.
Thanks a ton! That was a very simple and easy to grasp explanation of the concept. An interesting bit is that, I have been in 3 corporate sessions so far, where questionnaires are distributed with 50 odd questions. Each question has multiple-choice responses. Once each individual completes their respective questionnaires, the moderator shares a "scorecard" where there are points for the choices made against each question. Once these numbers tally, we get a total that fits you into one of these quadrants. Here there were no peer-to-peer interactions. It was an eye-opener to identify the blind-spots. Very effective. Just sharing here
I appreciate your concise explanation very well done!
Good clarity & very well done.
Excellent , explained really well thanks.

You're welcome!
short and simple
Thank you so much and the topic is clear and concise.
Thank you for mentioning about the 56 adjectives because I was unsure what to put in those boxes when I looked at other videos.
Best explanation. Thank you🌻💛
I need some examples??? For the unknown column
this is really nice and so helpful to teachers like me thanks
Wonderful explanation! The concept is lucidly elaborated. Maybe in the next video, you may add examples to give it a comprehensive touch.
Example of hidden area open area blind area and unknown area?
Wow
this is crazy helpful big slay!!
Thanks you for a clear and actionable explanantion. I'm only wondering about the wording of "facade"; for an engineer like me that seems like the wrong term! Facade in buildings and in software architecture is something that is most publicly facing of a structure. I believe better term for that lower left quadrant would be obscure or hidden, maybe. Thanks.

I agree. Even in social situations the term facade usually does mean the false front one puts on, rather than hidden truths. So consistent with the terminology for buildings.
Hi Emilia I have gone through your video clip and it is quite interesting. can you give me some thoughts about using it for plotting 360 assessments (competencies) especially the part related to hidden and unknown to the subject and the peers?
Hi, thank you for this basic information it's very helpful. BTW I wanna ask. Can we also tell/write the negative information in the blind spot? if we are dealing with our students (Class activity) or we just need to write the positive one. Tq.

I would include negative as well. That'll help find disconnects. Sometimes you need to communicate and give more clarity to bring the perceived to actual. Alternatively, maybe the actual is negative and you didn't realize it; giving you more insight. I hope that helps.
Thankq love u mam

As a monk, I have experienced the level of my soul, boundless yet accessible. I have experienced the soul’s centrality in other’s. Though known, the soul cannot be fully apprehended, yet a threshold is there in consciousness. This soul was breathed into me at birth, sustains all that I may know about myself and survives beyond my physical death. These truths are the foundation of all revealed religions of all times and places. Has the Johari theory ever be used in this arena? Padre
johari windows huh??? what about a johari walls, doors, couches?? Is that possible??
