Also Auri's "The Space Between" could be a good choice because it's at least a little bit "heavier" than ones like Night 13. Johanna is also involved in other projects like Altamullan Road and recently Eye of Melian. Perhaps someone else is in a better position to recommend songs from them as I haven't sampled their music comprehensively enough to pick the best ones.

Johanna didn't need Tuomas' help, because she already had a very successful solo career before they were together. Johanna's voice is too delicate to Nightwish, but in Auri it works like a charm. And it was also perfect with Tuomas' solo work, which you should check out too. Try this one, TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN - A Lifetime of Adventure (OFFICIAL VIDEO).

This song was written by two famous Finnish singers, Lauri Ylönen (he's from the Rasmus) and Paula Vesala (she has now a solo career and she is one of the biggest pop artists in Finland. In the early 2000's she was in a famous band PMMP). These two were dating a long time ago now.

Tuomas and Johanna married in 2015 and before that they've been together probably 5 years. So yes maybe Tuomas gave it a thought about her singing in Nightwish but decided to make other projects with her. She sings in Tuomas' solo album (released in 2014) and also they have the Auri band together with Troy as a 3rd member.

Love Johanna's voice. She was already a popular Finnish singer when she met Tuomas. They have been together since 2009 and married since 2015. Love her in in Tuomas's Lifetime of Adventure where she sings with her friend Johanna Livanainen. You have already checked her out in Auri. Recommend The Space Between, Desert Flower, and The Valley for more Auri songs. She and Johanna Livanainen also had a project called Altamullan Road which is also quite lovely. Her most recent project is a J.R. Tolkien/Fantasy Movie music project called Eye of Melian with Martijn Westerholt of Delain. Gorgeous etheral music that is worth a listen. Vita Nova and The Bell are good starting points but I love all of their songs.

I listen very little to local Finnish music, but Johanna really is one of the few artist's I really do like. She sounds so delicate but self conscious at the same time. By the way, "Rakkauslaulu" simply means "A love song", if nobody mentioned it before.

Yes. Johanna has a wonderful lilting voice. I also thought she was incredible in "A Lifetime of Adventure". Tuomas, Johanna, and Troy also make wonderful music in their group, Auri.

Don't mind, Tuomas and Johanna already HAVE their own common project. It's called AURI ! Troy is the third member of it. Together they make kind of campfire music, the type of music, which Tuomas originally was favoring. Yet Tarja's voice was too powerful so he decided to write music that suited her better. Johanna is no option for Nightwish, but she didn't need to....as she has her own career for many years.

Weird, I do not know any Finnish word, yet the song resonances and feels comfortable. I love it.

If I understood Tuomas right in an interview he said that Johanna can't sing anymore, or she won't sing anymore, the pandemic took the inspiration away. She is now concentrating on her collection on clothes to Auri, knitting collection, they are really really amazing. She really have a beautiful voice and looks like a princess from Disneys world.

I think he meant that Johanna didn't have a job at the time when the pandemic was punishing the music business. Promoters gone bankrupt etc. Half a year ago they were writing the next Altamullan Road album with Johanna Iivanainen.

@@Piia2023 In June 2022 Altamullan Road informed that they have started to make a new record. Also in June 2022 first Eye of Melian record was released. Johanna is singing on that record. I don't know is the interview, which you mentioned, made before or after last summer...

It's very likely their plan was to have a little tour with Auri in 2022 but pandemic things postponed Nightwish tour so it kinda ruined her plans. Johanna's posted a picture in the summer where they were making the next Altamullan Road album.

You should also watch Johanna Kurkela - Rakkauslaulu live 27/12/2014 It's from a Finnish TV- format where you can surprise someone dear to you, doesn't have to be romantic love, with a song. Johanna sings the song to a couple you can see in ghe audience. It was the most popular performance that season, and was performed in the season finale in Tampere Talo, Tampere House, concert hall. Tuomas had nothing to do with this song, music by Lauri Ylönen, from The Rasmus, lyrics by Paula Vesala. This is an old song, a big hit, will be evergreen. Johanna looks so young. Born in 1985, Tuomas was born in 1976. I think they became an item in 2009 maybe, got married in 2017, quietly. They have a hobby, they are crosswordssetters. I think Johanna takes care of drawing. They haven't done much music together outside Auri, the band they have with Troy. My favorite is A LIFETIME OF ADVENTURE, a song from Tuomas' only solo album, in 2014, "Music inspired by The Life and Times of Scrooge', a graphic novel by Don Rosa, the storyteller/illustrator. Beautiful vocals by Johanna. Recorded in London with the orchestra Nightwish cooperates with. Interesting and funny backround info: "Holopainen and Rosa interviewed by Radio Nova" parts 1&2, 5 minutes altogether. Tuomas is not afraid to contact people for cooperation, whether it is Don Rosa, Richard Dawkins or Sir David Attenborough, who declined with a hand-written letter that Tuomas treasures.
