No, you will be needing the music of the "Old Testament Composer" (aka J.S. Bach) and the music of the "New Testament Composer" (aka L.V. Beethoven) then through in a little bit of Mozart, Haydn and Czerny to spice things up a bit.

It's easy to get carried away with the theatrics and comedy of this video, but -- let's pay attention to the astonishing quality of this miraculous music! What a sublime melody! We're listening to a piece he probably sketched out in a single day as part of another weekly cantata cycle...and all while juggling the other weekly chores he had as cantor and music director over the other churches in Leipzig. People tend to forget that. A whole new cantata was required of him each week, all new choruses, recitatives, arias, duets, instrumental sinfonias, chorales, etc. For a man under that kind of pressure to consistently crank-out music of such stupendous, overarching sublimity almost borders on the supernatural.

Cet aria est léger comme l'air et résolument moderne, un côté rock’n’roll, et l'espièglerie du gamin ajoute un moment de fantaisie. De surcroit dirigé par le "maître", un grand moment de musique. Bellissimo

I listen classical music since i have memory, but never got really interested in Bach music until this year, and now i feel im rediscovering his music, and now i understand how deep and how genius is his music compared to the rest of composers, now i see he is far far superior in all ways to the rest, and his music it really makes grow the intelligence (literally), playing his works for piano and harpsichord really helped me to improve my technique and comprehension of music in a way i never imagined before, he really enlighted me. His music makes you think hard at the same time that facinates you . i really hated the fact i despicted his music for many years, but now at least can agree he is the best composer ever lived in our world and of course enjoy his marvelous work. Farewell

Bach music is for trained musicians. It's not that his music is not enjoyable by everyone, but only who understands music can understand how his music is on a higer level of art. I feel so lonely when i try to explain Bach to a non musician. I believe Bach was one of the loneliest musician, because with his knowlege of music was like being an Einstein between neanderthals.

Welcome to the miracle that is Bach. I have been listening to and loving this man's art for 50 years and am even now discovering new and precious treasures. Bach's gift was to combine the highest intellect, the loftiest spirituality, and the deepest humanity in one person. He is unique in the history of Western music.

Interesting, how the same video strikes different people in different ways. I see this as showing Bach to be more human. Having set up the rehearsal with all the other players and singers, and have the kid turn up late, is enough to annoy anyone and having discovered the deception, he quite naturally gives the culprit a mild ear-wrenching. After that, we see him melt, when he finds the actual singer has real talent. (I had a school music teacher that made this portrayal positively avuncular!

I think you may have missed the point that the kid is sick and decides to have his mum (or sister?) sing in his place. Women weren't allowed to sing back then. That's what makes it all the more moving (to me, at least).

It's not true that women weren't allowed to sing then - Bach's second wife Anna Magdalena was a professional soprano, and would have been rather surprised to read that! However this cantata was composed in Leipzig and the church choirs which Bach ran there were certainly male-only.
