The melody has similarities with the previous chorale of this program "Von Gott will ich nicht laßen", both are derived from the Renaissance song "Une jeune fillette", very well-known in its time.
The general meaning of the text: he who lets the Lord govern will not have to regret it. A beautiful sentence concludes the first verse: "He who trusts in God does not build on sand".
