Indication at the head of the organ score: “Pro organo pleno”, which can be translated as : "with all the power of the organ". The chorale is in the tenor.
Johann Ludwig Krebs : he was the best student of Johann Sebastian Bach, who had many throughout his career. J. S. Bach is said to have said about Krebs that he was “der einzige Krebs in meinem Bach” (which translates as “he is the only crayfish (Krebs) in my stream (Bach)”.
General meaning of the text: it is question of eternity, and of divine power.
