It’s different times but nowadays I would think every youth player signed up to any large club isn’t allowed to play street football. It may have been different in the 60’s though. We were friends with a former Rangers youth player in the mid 80’s who used to play football with us but he just kicked the ball way, he didn’t tackle or run with the ball.

For me, definitely the best player in football history. I miss him a lot

This man was still the best player in the dutch eredivisie in 1984. At age 37 he made my fav club Feyenoord , champion of The Netherlands . He didn't had the speed anymore , but he was still able to see more , than the other players AND the people in the stadium did. It was unbelievable !!! This man is a true diamond of Football.

I saw this and sometimes when messi plays reminds me a bit to cruijff playing RIP Johan Cruijff ⚽master.

For me Johan Cruyff was not only very best footballer but also a great person especially as a father and as a husband. Rarely we see such harmony when a superstar who is very famous where people all around the world admire him, but Cruyff still manage and was able to keep this balance with his role as a husband for his lovely wife Danny Coster and as a father for his three children. It means that Hendrik Johannes Cruyff was truly a great man and can be a raw model for any famous football player now a days. A moment when Cruyff accepted his loss in the final of World Cup 1974 from West Germany where he greeted German players one by one and gently came to the tribune to recieve silver medal showed the world how big and charismatic he was. Again and again he told to the football fans that to win the footbal game is important but to win the football fan's heart is the most important thing. It is true, because when we remember World Cup 1974, one person stood up among the others, yes, he was Johan Cruyff, with his legendary double black strip orange jersey. Thanks Johan for made people love football because of you.

First with Ajax and later with the dutch national team. He is simply on another level, compared to the other greats. Maradonna himself said that he has and had never seen a better team than the "Clockwork Orange"on the world championship in Germany in 1974.

I'm 62 and he is indeed the best player, together with Plel. Maradona is 2nd rate cheat, George Best was far better. Archie Gemmill's goal against Holland was far better than anything Maradona scored. I could think of a couple of Scottish players from the '60s who were should be in the top 20, Dennis Law, Jim Baxter (if only because of his keepy-upy against England), anyone of the Lisbon Lions.

If any current player replaced Cruijff in this video, it would be 14 minutes of them on the floor.

For all i know there are 2 players who have a signature move named after them. Zidane with his Swirl and Cruijff with the Cruijff turn, both unique! Maybe Bergkamp with whatever he did against Newcastle but i dont know how to call that except from magic and for sure once in a lifetime ;) But Cruijff is the overall master of Footbal! An unforgettable legend that will live on forever with his legacy on Holland 74, Ajax, Spain and the best team Barca ever had and the best ever team in history of Footbal. All made possible by NR.14!! Love you :)

Me es imposible describir lo que sentía cuando le veía jugar tanto en el Camp Nou como en el resto de los campos de la geografía de España, pues solía desplazarme cuando el FC Barcelona jugaba en campo contrario y siempre salía satisfecho con lo que demostraba y hacia disfrutar a todos los aficionados de ambos contendientes. Personalmente he tenido algunas conversaciones con él y me asombraba todo lo que comentaba, especialmente el reglamento del fútbol que lo sabía incluso mejor que muchos colegiados de la Primera División del fútbol español y no era para nada un presuntuoso, se mostraba muy natural y muy seguro de lo que decía. Me quedaba embobado por su impresionante personalidad y por su tan humano y humilde trato con todos los que le tratábamos y eso me hacía sentir un privilegiado por estar tan cerca de mi ídolo. He simply was the first in... too much to mention. Without Cruyff there would have been no Messi, no Zidane, no Van Basten, no Bergkamp, no Henry, no Zlatan etc... and somehow he thinks it's normal. What an artist!!!

Cruyff is amazing, no doubt about it....but your comment is an example of who is truly the most underrated of all time by his omission...and who also states Cruyff was his idol.... Michael Laudrup! Whilst he'll be forever indebted to Cruyff he was slightly better in my opinion.

I'm just gutted. What a terrible day. Cruyff will live forever. How i miss this kind of football and Cruyff. The whole nation is in shock. RIP Johan.

He was so elegant.

Cruijff was a very elegant, technical, fast, athletic, beautiful and insightful player. I think he's the best of all times. But you can't say he invented Dutch total football on his own. During his time we also had Feyenoord, lead by Willem van Hanegem. The best team in the word during the year 1970. During the greatest period of Dutch football ever, from 1969 until 1975, Ajax (Cruijff) and Feyenoord (Van Hanegem) were dominant and they also were leading the Dutch national team in 1974. However, they failed during the last game of that WC, because they should have won that world cup beyond any doubt.

I don't care when famous people die but this was one big loss for me. I thought April Fools came early this year but it's true, my favorite and most badass football player of all time is gone. RIP No.14!

Cruijff himself said: 'it's useless to compare players and say who's better. Let's just enjoy the beauty of their game.' I think he was right about that too.

Criijff is the best ever. He started to play in a time that money became more important in the game and that nearly criminal tackles were allowed. He could avoid all of that because he was able to play with both feet, had an acceleration in the acceleration, could influence the speed of the game when required, outsmarted the opposite team and nearly his own team by far, thinks years ahead in terms of applicable tactics and longs term strategies to become the best of all time. When he would be a German player, he would have at least 3 world titles. He dealt also with the pressure of the political influence as a person and used his world famous brand to not only find the best players but to develop children also in their education. He is as Barcelona more than just a football team, much more than just a soccer player.

God, he really was special. I think Ronaldo Nazario (in his short prime) is the best footballer ever, but this guy really is art. I watch this 2-3 times a year.
