Based on the classic cyberpunk noir novel by Richard K. Morgan, "Altered Carbon" is an intriguing story of murder, love, sex and betrayal, set more than 300 years in the future. Society has been transformed by new technology: consciousness can be digitized; human bodies are interchangeable; death is no longer permanent. Takeshi Kovacs (Joel Kinnaman) is the lone surviving soldier in a group of elite interstellar warriors who were defeated in an uprising against the new world order. His mind was imprisoned - on ice - for centuries until Laurens Bancroft, an impossibly wealthy, long-lived man, offers Kovacs the chance to live again.

@@thebl4ckd0g i have to say i don't love Anthony Mackie, i don't think he fits Kovacs tbh. Kinnaman was extremely good, too bad the script was changed for (way) worse compared to the book.

I've been watching sci fi for 40 years, this is very close to the best thing I've ever seen. A mix of Bladerunner and the Matrix and much more besides. Soon to be science fact if you know your research. Glad I'll be dead before this all comes into reality. Awesome.

Suicide Squad was the only thing I saw Joel in prior to this show, so naturally I was concerned. But he knocked this role out of the park. I am very pleased with this show.

Fantastic show.
Joel is just awesome, love this guy and... GREAT interview. I always like 'Build Series' interviews, because it's great to see the actors talk in such an elaborative way. I totally agree with Ricky on suggesting Joel to do comedy, like in 'The Killing' and now in 'Altered Carbon' I loved the sense of humor of his characters and the way he pulled that off, it's amazing. I'd love to see Joel do some comedy, he should definitely do that cause he has full potential for that.

Would have been so much better if the interviewer had read the books. For instance i would have asked if Joel knows that he would not be in the second series because the second book is based in the future with a totally different 'sleeve'

Anthony Mackie was an awful choice for season 2. But the writers were awful in season 2 as well. Season 1 with Kinnaman was amazing though.

I had a book presentation on altered carbon and summerizing the book in 1 minute is one of the hardest things i’ve done 😂 got an A- though.
It's sucks that Joel is not is season 2

I'm very hopeful that Altered Carbon becomes the "Game of Thrones" of Science Fiction. We need an Sci-fi series full with adult themes, social criticisms, but at the same time with well known thropes from genre.
I’m in the middle of season 2 and it’s just not the same vibe without him.

WhT makes it a good show is the uncensored shit it makes the shit feel way more realistic . Like the sexual deseire and raw very realistic wounds and confusing narrative was very amazing

I enjoyed this series much more than the Blade Runner universe actually. I would really want a second season. Amazing first season! It makes you think like Blade Runner but more of an action thrill ride..with even some humour at times.

Another god vs devil. Nature vs technology. Tech is fast but always flawed and nature is time consuming but sufficient and with very little flaws if any. Fun series to watch.

the host acts like the concept of the show is impossible to grasp or explain. Its quite simple.
Its sad that Joel doesnt seem to be too into the series.. it could've been his own Matrix..

Think takeshi was in an African body in the second book or something? But Joel was definitely Tak for me, he absolutely nailed it. Who knows they've already messed around with the stories they try get him back in some form for a season 3 if there is one?

at the beginning, if you pause at the right time, and looked closely, u could actually see "it" when he was coming out of the "bag"..but it's those very fuzzy u blink and u'd miss it type of thing, BUT, his BUTT was on full display, and it is ummm ummmmmmmm..................

Altered carbon was excellent but i can't give it 10/10 too much SEX...its unnecessary for a brilliant scifi.
His first season was Cool. The second season Sucks with the black guy I stoped watching

No vi la serie así que pregunta objetiva: se puso feo porque el actor no capturó la escencia del personaje o porque no es un copycat de Joel? O la trama se puso fe? Tengo entendido que en los libros ocurre lo mismo y de allí el cambio... lo que no entiendo es que muchos no aceptan al otro actor... pero eso no ocurre con Dr Who por ejemplo.

Why is he lying? Nothing of the violence is there and nothing of the story, only the names of the characters are correct, they also changed there personalities and background, either he's lying or he hasn't read the books, witch also makes him a liar I guess, fucking piss show, no not a show, its a censuring of the ideas of the books, nothing more.
