@@masonsizemore522 how old is this guy? Seriously! I played the game and hated it when I got in Abby's playthrough. But as I progressed, it honestly grew more on me. I was actually about to sympathize with Abby but then that last flashback made the resent "not go away" because of the time he chose to kill Joel. Like, Joel died not knowing whether Ellie forgave him or not. At the end it made me despair but at the same time content and I felt like I personally had avenged Joel's death by letting Abby and the resentment go, lol. A solid 10/10. They couldn't have possibly made it any better. And pardon me if I came too long

i agree to an extent, but that last flashback where she talks with Joel didn't feel like she got closure, it felt like she forced herself to stop, in just the way she looked like she wanted to say something to Joel but didn't at the very end, no moment where they both express their sides or something just a thought

  • @roshn.i

@@thisbubblygoodness7611 I meant at the farm, not the flashback. I think in the flashback she tells him that she'll try to forgive him. But this entire careless rampage she went on wasn't to avenge his death, it was to consummate her guilt. Maybe if she did something different, he wouldve been alive. If she forgave him earlier instead of putting her ego ahead of everything and all, that's what she thought. So it's more like she got closure with herself at the barn. If she could try to forgive Joel, she can try to forgive herself too. Its what he would have actually wanted

I can't say I relate to that because I'm not a father nor do I want to be a father. But I'd like to add that, no matter how you look at it, Joel did the most humane thing anyone could've possibly done in that world. Even with the fungus removed from Ellie, it is unlikely that the Fireflies could've produced a vaccine or cure. And even if they could, what is left to save really? I mean, at best they could delay the inevitable: that the survivors are bound to be killed, either by the infected or by each other. But everyone'a so desperate that the Fireflies would kill an innocent girl, just so they could cling to a vain hope. The Fireflies would eventually come to realise that all their effort and sacrifices were in vain. So they'd find something else to be obsessed with or would get to each other throats and kill one another.

Love the "All the promises at sundown, I meant them like the rest." You can see it written in Ellie's journal after Joel dies and it's not just a callback to him singing this song for her, it's also a callback to their last conversation and the "promises at sundown" is her wanting to try and forgive Joel, and her putting that in her journal makes it even more heartbreaking how they never got to repair their relationship fully.

I think it's because you can almost sense ellies distrust but she appreciates and realizes how much joel loves her. That paired with Joel, who has fully accepted her as his daughter and he's finally getting a break and releases his emotions. He's finally got his guards completely down, and it wound up costing him his life. But like he said, if the lord gave him a chance to do it all over again, he'd make the same choices. This is his swan song, and its tragically beautiful

I can't... Whenever I listen to this, I'm just starting to cry when I see Ellie looking at Joel. When he starts singing, she is at first curious of what is about to happen. Then, although she is trying to hide it, we can see that it is a very emotional moment for her. I can almost see the tears in her eyes. Then she just looks him straight in the eyes and I felt like she wanted to say that she loves Joel so much and she wants to stay with him forever no matter the weather. The relation they managed to create is just truly admirable. Of course, they had their ups and downs, but they are still almost like a family to each other. The plot of TLOU (both part one and two) is something that I can't describe with words. It's wonderful, it's astonishing, it's one of the best games (if not the best game) ever created. I love it!!!

I'm not gonna lie I just played tlou this year because I wanted to play the second game so I got the first and played it first but it had such an effect on me I'm a 15 year old girl (I was 14 when I played it) and my dads an alcoholic shit head. The game was honestly kind of an escape I related to Ellie a lot and when I would play I felt like I WAS Ellie and Joel was like my father figure. I honestly kind of fetishized (Not in a sexual way) their father daughter relationship because I yearned to have that so much. When joel died in the second game I felt just empty. It's still such an amazing game just dang it really hit me like a bus.

This song fits so much to them. And it hits much harder after you've played both games. I have suffered so fucking much when Joel died. I was so attached to his character, like I've never really been with anyone else. He was ruthless yes, but like almost every survivor in his place would have been. He became a paternal figure for Ellie, they went through so much together. They needed each other. And I wanted more Joel. I miss you Joel 😭❤

You can hear so much emotion in Troy's voice when he sang this, and I bet a lot of that came from the reaction people had when they played the game, both good and bad. Whether you liked it or whether you didn't, you can tell the hate broke Troy's heart. To me, it's moment's like this song that make this game a masterpiece.
