Joel Beeke: Gaining Access to God's Throne Room

The difference between a believer and an unbeliever is that a believer always has a place to go. In this message, Joel Beeke looks at prayer through the eyes of John Calvin and examines what prayer is, how it works, and why it is important.

"When you have the least impulse to pray, do so." my favorite part, hits hard

The way he says Calvin makes me chuckle every time. That being said, this is a wonderful exhortation about prayer. Oh Lord please help me to pray better and more often.

If we have access to the throne room to be intercessors for others, doesnt that make us high priests as well? Doesn't God communicate intimately with every born again son? Wasnt the veil ripped when I too died on my own cross and entrance was granted to me too?

Christ's death ripped that veil FOR you because we couldn't do it ourselves. Hebrews says Christ is our great High priest, and we are priests. Very good news!

@@jody2873 Actually there is no high priest in the new covenant. We all can speak directly to the Father. No need for anyone to do it for us. When we don't know what to pray the holy spirit intercedes for us. As noted in the NT.

@@jody2873 If Jesus died to pay our sin debt then he would still be dead. That's the price I would have had to pay on judgement day l, eternal death. We must crucify our own flesh on our cross so we can rise to new life. And offer our love ves as a sacrifice for others. It was a spiritual allegory in the gospels.

@@oseiaschiquellajunior8356 But I was also given the same new name as Jesus received. Phillipians 2:9-10, Rev. 3:12. If you have access to the throne room then you are a high priest of the order of Melchizedek.

I must ask why all the pointings to John Calvin. Is this a Calvinist religion? The Apostles asked Jesus to teach them to pray.. Can we not do the same? 1 John 2:27 actually all of chapter two but emphasis on verse 27 Let us put more honor on Christ in sermon than man. But that being said and hope taken with meekness, this message is very important and can be applied.
