David Mason of Gainesville FL is on the Hammond Organ (not Dave Mason of Traffic). David Mason also played with Don Felder in Gainesville FL in a hometown band, The Maundy Quintet, as well as did Bernie Leadon. Tom Petty also played with David. We had lots of fun back then & a lot of talent was born in Gainesville. I'm sorry to report that David Mason passed away a week ago Friday. It is so wonderful to be able to see him in his glory in this video. RIP David, your music will live on. ♪♫

this was done just berfore joe jpoining THE EAGLES BECAME OFFICIAL ... Felder had been in the bad the eagles for a while already -- joe joined, they went into the studio and cut HOTEL CAL album when joe and don said 'we tried to derek and the dominos oyut ... the tour in the summer of 76 opened with fleet mac in their first buckingham nicks form ,,, and the lady who was tlaking about the keyboard player from GVILLE knows here stuff -- ah, the days mud crutch and dub;s lamliter house band ,, my firend dannyroberts was in tht petty band-- the only one I got a little confused was the conga player htought it might be REBOP from trafiic but was wrong, it was rocky

Always loved this song but I always thought the guitar on the beatles original was too thin and weak for it. This version has some muscle guitar that it needed on the original.

Willie Weeks on bass... awesome. he was the backbone for so many soul groups; check out Donnie Hathaway "Live" "Everything's Everything". Jay Fergusson was with "Spirit" (the 12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus" is possibly their best and then Jo Jo Gunne's "Jumping the Gun". I actually prefer Elton John's live version of Get Back medley on 11-17-71 LP. (The fretless bass is heavy throughout and drums tight, but active.)

drummer17562: You are rare, indeed, if you know that Donny Hathaway piece. After that Weeks solo, there must have been a lot of bassists that wanted to sell their basses. If you remember, Hathaway was surrounded by major talent on that live record.

Fingers Felder should have ditched the Eagles and thrown in with Joe. Instead Joe pitched in with the Eagles and a great solo career died. Never did understand that move by Joe. Love seeing his early stuff though. One of the true greats, ever.

yea joe could of, but one of reasons he said in an interview about joining the eagles was he ddnt like the pressures of being the frontman and main songwriter

@@atourdeforce No it wasn't, Glenn didn't have long hair in the 80s he cut his hair during the Long Run (Around 1979) and never grew it out again.

I am sure this was before joe or fingers was part of eagles... joe done encores with them time to time cause leadon wanted to be country and the eagles wanted to be rock...

The beginning of the video dates it as 1975 so Felder (Fingers) was definitely with the Eagles at this time but Walsh was not a member yet. He did hang out and do shows with them during this period. Glenn Frey on rhythm guitar is a waste of a nice vintage Les Paul. Frey can play some good lead when he wants to but not in this video.

+Donnie and Molly Parrigin Jr I SAW THE JAMES GANG IN 1975, OPENING FOR THE ALLMAN BROTHERS, AND THEY EMBARRASSED THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND. WALSH WAS SUPERB. IT WAS AT TEXAS STADIUM WHERE THE DALLAS COWBOYS ONCE PLAYED AND PEOPLE WERE LEAVING DURING THE ALLMAN BROTHERS PART. I DON'T THINK HE WAS A FORMAL MEMBER AT THIS POINT, BUT SOON--WITHIN MONTHS--HE WOULD BE. WONDER WHAT HE WOULD HAVE DONE HAD HE NOT JOINED AND BEEN SOBER? HE WAS AND IS TOO MUCH OF A ROCKER FOR THE "POP" EAGLES. IMHO. WHICH AIN'T WORTH MUCH.

You are right. I was at the concert too and remember the long walk to car with the Allman brothers playing in the background. I think the bad acoustics in Texas stadium didn't work for well for Allman Brothers.The Marshall Tucker Band also opened the show. But Joe Walsh was awesome. I had seen him the week before headline a show in Corpus Christi.

I had forgotten The Marshall Tucker Band being there.. "Southern rock" was doing well. The Outlaws were a great band live. I guess Lynyrd Skynyrd got the ball rolling.
