Yoel said Tim doesn't play by a street code or sport code. He started grabbing gloves which isn't following sport code and when he does it back Tim tells the ref about it which is breaking street code. If you fight dirty, expect to have it done right back at you in other words.

Grabbing wrist isn’t illegal though and I’m sorry but if you get into the ring and start abiding by your own rules then you should be disqualified. If he felt cheated he should’ve said something then and there. It’s not in him that his cut man left early but saying he was justified because he was “cheated” is ignorant as hell.

I’m not even cuban or speaking spanish, but yoel is saying that for an eye poke or kick in the balls you normally get 5 minutes, so why shouldn’t he receive extra recovery time for an illegal maneuver made by kennedy which gave him an advantage. Basically shouldn’t yoel receive time to recover when he got blasted 7-8 times from an illegal glove grab? Why shouldn’t he get extra time for receiving illegal punches in his face, but only when there’s an eye poke or groin kick! Yoel didn’t complain about the glove grab and if the round didn’t finish right then he would’ve been ko’s from an illegal move, yet tim complained that he had 30 extra seconds which is petty and unsportsmanlike. I’m with yoel 100%, and he makes sense

awis linear he didnt play the system, his corner did. Cut men tend to leave in the middle of the rest period after they are done, so if say a situation that requires a cut man arises during the rest but after said cut man has left.. well a fighter gets extra rest to allow for the cut man to come back. He clearly followed the rules but the rules were porous as fuck. Cut men should stay through the start of the next round to prevent this shit. Also wtf big john, how could you not see the glove grabs

I barely eat and it's hard to get under 250 lbs these days. I love ufc and this is meant as no disrespect and I don't think I'm better fighter at all, I'm just saying I believe in myself enough to say I wouldn't back down at all from this guy if he wanted a piece of me. And to all you youngers guys out there. You can be anything you want to be, if your working some dead end job somewhere and you don't like it, just keep trying and think of something that makes you happy and try make money off it, best decision for anyone. And when it comes to fighting and stuff, train that stuff and lift weights, don't forget to lift weights because if you already know a lot of Martial arts, start doing deadlifting and squats and lunges with it. So, the UFC cutman applied too much vaseline and left which gave him more time and then the coach may have stalled a little bit when wiping him out. Yoel's point, and it's hard to disagree, is that it should have been an easy win for him in the first place and he should have been given much more extra time after getting hurt by illegal punches, so it's stupid to complain about the few seconds they stole in order to set things straight.

@Burt Gummer - Your comment is out-of-context. The context is the quote which was brought up. Joe Rogan was asked "Does Jones' positive drug test delegitimize his entire career?", to which Joe Rogan replied... "Well... we'll never know if Jon Jones had steroids in his system". He actually said "in his system the whole time" but the original poster seems to be trolling by modifying the quote to suit his narrative.

Yoel is a textbook street-smart fighter, beside his long career as an Olympic athlete. His brother was the cruiserweight boxing champion for several years, his father, his uncle, he comes from a family of fighters. All those "dirty" tricks are the kind of instincts you learn in street fights. And if you drag him into a dirty fight, you need to be able to live with it. Kennedy obviously wasnt.

    4 жыл бұрын

@@JTD472 I think Kennedy getting up is minimal energy expenditure as I said originally. Also, it isn't just my logic, but Joe Rogan's and other commentators. How so? Well in some fights when one person gets supposedly eye poked or kicked in the groin, and the ref gives them a break. Joe and the others say, "he is getting extra rest!" Then another says, "ya but the other guy is getting extra rest as well!". Then when they resume you can see that they are both full of energy like round 1. So you see they do apply this logic and it is correct logic, but in this case he has forgotten that. If you have not seen a fight where that happens I can find a couple. I saw one recently too.

  • @JTD472

Mr. E I actually meant to reply to somebody else that was saying basically the same thing, but the idea is essentially the same. I’m just trying to point out that giving more time in between rounds can have different effects on each fighter, for example if one just got rocked and needs to clear the cobwebs more recently than the other. It’s not just about getting your heart rate down. And I think it’s a little sketchy saying it’s “negligible” that Kennedy stood up when that is basically all they’re required to do at that point and what Yoel is being blamed for NOT doing. Also, just because somebody else is using a faulty argument doesn’t make it any more right/wrong, of course. I’m not trying to make a case for either fighter; I just think a lot of scenarios like this are more complex than people care to go and that ends up being the narrative that follow them around for a long time. Anyway thanks for the reply bro. Didn’t think anybody would be watching this old ass video I landed on 👍

  • @Mr-E.

@@JTD472 JTD472 I didn't want to get super into recovery, but standing is honestly a superior form of recovery. Especially high level athletes with efficient vascular systems (blood circulatory). That is why I said it is negligible. You will probably roll your eyes at this but I could argue that him standing is better recovery than Yoel sitting. While it is true that finding other people with similar logic does not make something true, Joe uses that logic himself (contradicting himself). The point is that in all cases seen this far, when the fighters are given a break (standing and even yelling and protesting eye pokes/groin), they fight better when it resumes. I commented initially because Joe was making it seem like Kennedy had 30 seconds less recovery than Yoel. I think that is faulty logic on his end when he says the opposite during fights. Either way, I don't feel like we are arguing because you seem like a chill person and you are reasonable. I agree with some of what you are saying. For me, it feels like when I'm debating a friend on something lol! Side note - I just watched the Michael Venom Page fight from last night, that was crazy. Would love to see that dude fight Adesanya.

Its a shame Yoel didn't have someone to explain this to the referee so proper action could have been taken. The whole scenario would of gone over better had he explained that Kennedy was holding the gloves. Instead, it looks like Yoel, granted I don't blame him fighting in a ring for thousands of dollars around thousands of people who can't understand him, did self-impose this extra time. Granted he is not admitting it, but in my opinion, I think he is certainly alluding to the fact he did take his time getting up to recover from the illegal glove grabbing.

I think he gave some really good arguments in his favor. Yet, it's clear that he benefited from this so called "street mentality" he has. In America we are so used to the rules being followed that it's not very likely that in the heat of the moment one would consider such clever, yet justifiable measures. For example, if a regular guy gets fouled his most natural reaction will be to look at the ref in order for the rules to be followed and to maybe penalize the other guy.. Where Yoel was brought up, that can backfire even more so you have to get more clever and do what he did, because honestly he did bring justice into his own hands otherwise he most likely would've lost that fight. Not justifying or saying it's the correct thing, we have to be able to trust each other. That's why in America you can afford to sell refillable beverages, or leave our houses unlocked without anyone breaking in (just some small examples of trusting each other), because you know people will simply not take advantage of the situation, that's what the country is based on.. unfortunately in this case it was Kennedy who actually started with the dirty shit

We didn't expect anything less, we loved that level of aggression and willingness to do whatever you could get away with to win. I'm a purist with boxing, I love the chess match at elite level, but first and foremost I'm here for the violence, the trench warfare, the hearts and souls of two participants just laid bare. MMA is the purist form of fighting and the purist legal form of violence. "He grabbed my glove so I sulked on the stool" Miss me with that shit.
