    Gotta agree with Joe on this one, I had Nick winning the 1st, 2nd, and 5th rounds too. Condit was effective but didn't cause any real damage, backpeddaled the whole fight, and never really had Nick in danger. Nick landed the more effective shots in those 3 rounds and pressed the action the entire fight, and had a good submission attempt which was the only near finish.

    1) Diaz won by Landing more effective and Clean shots! 2) Carlos's so called "nice movement" is actually called panicking ducking and running. Along with his FLICKING kicks that barely did damage! 3) Carlos DID land some clean shots, but not nearly enough to win the fight. 4) it's not a question that diaz could've done better, but what else would YOU do if your fighting for the interum belt and your opponent is basically RUNNING away?!?!

    Carlos quickly deciphered Diaz's only game plan, which is is punches in bunches. After round 2 Condit avoided the initial strikes and darted in to land his own strikes. Just because it wasn't overly entertaining and Condit refused to let himself get punched in the face repeatedly by an accomplished boxer doesn't mean he lost. Either one of the Diaz brothers is easy to figure out if you don't play into their shit-talking

    You thought wrong. Condit kicked Diaz twice in the head and rocked his world. They were there and were feeling the shots. We were not. But those hits hurt a lot. I know because I've been hit. My jaw was dislocated even though I didn't go down. I felt it more the next day. One of the worst shots I ever felt was to the neck. Aimed at my chin but hit me in the neck. Diaz was kicked and punched all night. Both have very strong chins. Carlos won it regardless of what who we are rooting for. Be truthful and fair. Don't say your favorite won. Both of them were hurting at some point. Or that they were weak hits. Until you are there you don't know. If you fight somebody then you are in the position to KNOW about kicks and punches and now it feels.

    Point fighting is bullshit, especially when the other guy clearly isn't hurt or even slightly phased from the opponents offense. Diaz never slowed down or had the slightest of a limp so those leg kicks shouldn't have counted for shit. Diaz landed more effective punches and should've scored points for octagon aggression.

  • @DrewStennett
    @DrewStennett10 жыл бұрын

    Just watched it with sound off and this is an unbiased fact of how this fight should've been scored. Rd-1 goes to Carlos bc he was landing alot of legs kicks and moving aggressively forward. 10-9 CC Rd-2 goes to Nick bc his hands started to warm up, even though Carlos was landing a few kicks Nick had far more shots that were cleaner and accurate and pressing the action . 10-9 ND Rd-3 goes to Nick bc even though Carlos started the round with a couple head shots and kicks this is where Nick started to really find Carlos` head. More cleaner shots and more effective strikes landed Nick landed. Easily a 10-9 rd for Nick. Rd-4 goes to Condit since he actually moved forward the ONLY but whole round and landed far more shots than Diaz did. So that rd easily for Condit. 10-9 CC Rd-5 went like this. Carlos started off with some good leg kicks and they both traded a few headshots but ultimately Diaz took Condit down and took his back fairly easy and I say that bc anyone could've made that out and put him in some trouble and the only way Carlos got out was bc there was 8-9 seconds left and Diaz went for armbar otherwise another minute or two he mightve made him sleep. Take down+taking his back= 10-9 ND which equals Diaz-48 def. Carlos Condit-47 Anyone that argues cannot clearly see or is biased. Period

    5th rd... Another minute or two? You are speculating on hypotheticals here Nick knew the clock was running down and made A last minute desperate attempt at gaining an easy Point with a takedown that he was fairly certain would amount to nothing. Condit simply outclassed Diaz, displaying a greater diversity in his attack / moves. He looked more like the champion in the cage than Diaz, who appeared amateurish compared with Carlos, as if all he was doing was looking for the knockout - that is, of course, until the last minute of the fight with his desperate lil cheap point gain maneuver that amounted to nada, fight wise. I just think the judges saw it the way I did... Who looked more A/ The Champion out there? You're gonna give it to Diaz cuz of a cheap last minute fruitless take down?

    @Shonem Absolutely and when trapped in a corner, most defensive boxers will dip and try to step around, But in an octagonal cage almost anywhere near the fence is a corner. Condit wanted to fight within the painted octagon on the mat. One important distinction when when comparing MMA defense to boxing: Boxers needn't worry about kicks or takedowns or clinch fighting. MMA defense can't be as subtle as boxing where all you have to avoid is the left and right hand. But I appreciate your points.

    Condit 3,4,5. Giving Diaz rd 5 bc of a desperate takedown is ridiculous. U could give condit rd 1 as well. He was way busier. Moving forward doesn't make u the busier fighter any more than moving backward makes u less engaging. Condit outworked him, outstruck him, and fought a way better fight. Diaz is a punching bag. You better just keep pullin for Nate cuz Nick is on the way out. That was the last crack at a title he'll ever have. Condit pieced him up. You're a troll. Grass is green....you get it. @cappellifiore btw i meant Condit's style is cowardly.. not diaz. His actions and behaviour can be questionable at times, but the dude's had a rough upbringing .. so as far as that goes I think people should judge his personality less and fighting ability more. I don't think Diaz disrespects the sport (silly state rules don't really constitute the sport of MMA); he comes to fight and nowadays that attribute is undervalued (among the athletic commission at least).

I would love to see this fight again and see how it plays out. Both of them are just incredible fighters. Condit banged out with Hardy, he's not scared to fight, he just used footwork and a game plan. Diaz should have tried to take him down more and mix it up. It happens.

    Diaz fans are by far the smartest MMA fans out there. Im just interested as to why that is? I guess its because a super intellegent fighter like Diaz just emmits this radiance that other geniuses are drawn to.

    The sad thing about the Condit vs Diaz fight is that 1. Nick did win (fact) by the current judging criteria. 2. If MMA inserted the yellow card like Pride which they definitely should, then it would've been a 50-45 win for Nick. Current judging criteria: Octagon Control, Aggression, EFFECTIVE Striking and Effective Grappling. Nick won Octagon Control, Aggression and Effective Grappling undebatably. Effective Striking is the controversial part (continued)...

    I am a massive nick diaz fan. nate also. they're fucking warriors. they come in and they try to fuck you up. if diaz was to run out and use his toughness to get a takedown I think he'd dominate the groundgame. it would actually be more exciting than GSP since GSP just holds people down. no disrespect of course, he's a great damn fighter but diaz is creative and entertaining. I believe he could easily submit condit in the rematch.

    I like both Condit and Diaz but while Condit was backing up, he was landing shots the whole time. I've said this before, it is a contact sport and contact = points, regardless if you're moving forward or moving backward.

    @Alpinex105 Decmocracy is a fantasy or dream.But I heard they are going to fight again but I have not seen any confirmation from the UFC.However, Condit's management is revising all fights until GSP title shot but this is only speculation though.

    You can still fight intelligently and still give an excellent performance to viewers. The fight showed that Carlos didn't work that hard for the Diaz fight in terms of actually training to finish him off. Instead, he took the easy way out without putting risk on the line that all the champions in the UFC do, excluding GSP as of late. What got to me is that Carlos ranted about how he was going deliver a great fight on the primetime show and failed to deliver it, knowing that he wouldn't.

    @southpole380 I said 1, 3 and 4. Not 5. It's pretty much unanimous that Condit won 3 and 4. How did the judges score the individual rounds?

  • @78bcat
    @78bcat12 жыл бұрын

    @Shonem Octagon control and "effective" aggression are two very different things. Actually Condit had complete octagon control. The fight went where he wanted it to go. While Diaz had the aggression, in my opinion was it was only effective in rounds 1 and 5. I thought Condit won, but if Diaz had won, I would not have argued too hard. It was a close fight and in MMA with 3 or 5 rounds (a very small sample for a 10-point must system), anytime it goes to a decision, anything can happen.

    getting someone's back and going for the finish is just as effective as a few innefective leg kicks and a few decent punches, I"d say, coupled with the decent strikes Diaz landed in the round

    Condit took full advantage of the current scoring system. It was a brilliant piece of counter fighting. I just wish that fight took place in the smaller cage. Even UFC fighters don't realize the UFC has 2 different cages and one is much smaller than the other. The smaller cage forced people to fight so you see allot more finishes. There's less room to circle and "fight evasively" like Condit did in the smaller cage. They use the smaller cage for Casino's and smaller venues. Frankly I wish they used it for Stadium shows and everything else. The larger cage is ridiculous for Flyweights like Johnson who can exploit all that extra space. It encourage defensive fighting. There's something called "Ring generalship" or "Cage Control" and Diaz OWNED the center of that octagon. Condit was forced to the outside the entire fight. That scores allot of point for Diaz. Clearly Jackson watched the old Joe Riggs vs Diaz fight where Riggs circled and fought defensively the entire fight and someone came away with a controversial decision. It's allot easier to hit someone who's coming straight at you. On the other hand running from your opponent is called "timidity" and it doesn't score points. Lastly Condit landed allot of wimpy little kicks while scurrying backwards. How do you score those? They did no damage at all.

    I think it's funny how Condit fought like Machida when he was fighting Rampage, Rampage was pushing the pace all three rounds and won, Diaz did the same thing, however Diaz being the one pushing the pace does not win. I think the judges need to come together and discuss how the fuck they're gonna judge.

    Condit won clearly, intelligent game plan, more significant strikes, and being able to not fall into Diaz's game. MMA isn't just brawling, and this sport isn't dying, half of its fans just don't know what this sport is truly about. I don't paper view an event to see two guys swing at each other until the final bell, I can see that any time from amateurs for free. I paper view an event to see two guys pit their physical and mental capabilities against one another, Condit was simply the winner.

    I like both Nick and Condit alot,...But I heard a phrase from one of Diaz's trainer's that if Diaz and St Pierre walked into a alley that Diaz would be the only one walking out. I truly believe this to be that case for Diaz and Condit, if they walked into a dark alley, Diaz would be the only one walkin out the dark alley

    @Shonem I get where your coming from, but along with MMA, I've been a boxing fan for 25 years and counterpunching boxers often fight moving backwards, picking there spots to stand and fight before moving out of harms way. I can understand those who don't enjoy that style, especially since you don't see it very often in MMA, but it is a very effective strategy. The only issue I would take is with calling it running. Guys like Hector Camacho run, Condit, Muhammad Ali, Pernell Whitaker didn't run.
