Joe Rogan on Matthew McConaughey!
Joe Rogan talks about Matthew McConaughey and how we are all just human and need normal human interactions. A lot believe that being a celebrity makes people different in some respect, but we are all the same with the same chemicals running through our brains!

They needed a notary and I worked at a bank nearby. He was an absolute class act, real human, no bullshit. Walked right up to me, held out his hand, and said, “Hi. I’m Matthew.” I think I said, “Hi, and I’m Tits… um, I’m Ron Burgundy.” or something stupid. Anyway, he was grilling steaks on two big grills for the crew. Then his manager asked me for names of people I know who like him as well as my address. He sent me a personalized autograph packet for every single person. Legend.

@PolarisRider06
Жыл бұрын
@Justin Cabrera if you go back to the first 2 videos I ever posted that will give you a good idea of what my friend did and it probably won't take much to figure out who it was from there... I've only posted a few videos and the first couple were back in the days when a camera on a cellphone was rare, uploading a video potentially took hours and I think there may have been some length restrictions for videos on KZread due to bandwidth issues or something like that. So they are only a few seconds long, and they were shot with my flip phone that Verizon sent me when I first got a cell phone through Verizon at the end of my senior year of high school. Now... off on a major tangent about how much money having the best cell phone camera of all cell phone cameras in 2006, plus the ability to use a phone for "data" purposes (I could go on the early mobile web and even watch videos) and not wanting to lose those features ended up costing me over the years lol That old verizon flip phone they sent me was not the razor flip phone that I had ordered, and not what I wanted, but when I checked out the details it had a better camera (1.8mp photos and you can see what the video quality was, which, as far as I can remember finding back then, was the best cell phone camera available in 2006) plus it had external buttons for media playback controls for mp3 audio and an easily accessible mini SD card slot so I could swap out SD cards depending on what music I wanted to listen to or if I was taking pictures or whatever else... Plus, it was about an $850 phone, and at that time you got a free phone of your choice up to a certain cost when initially getting a new line with Verizon, and a discount over that price if I remember correctly, and this little flip phone far exceeded the cost of the free phones and they didn't charge me anything for it. I don't remember the brand or model of it, but I think I might still have it somewhere stuffed away in a box, it would be interesting to see if it would turn on and if it still has any photos or music on it. It was also back in the days of "new every 2" where you signed a 2 year agreement, then in 2 years if you signed another 2 year contract you also got a new phone of your choice (up to $xxx) for free and discounts over that. I never got to take advantage of anybof those free phone deals myself because I split off of my parents plan so I could get unlimited data (including Hotspot ability if your phone was capable of doing that) and a Motorola Droid soon after they came out and the Droid exceeded the free phone cost and was the top of the line phone for photos and data use (it had a full slide out keyboard allowing you to use the phone in "landscape" view and type while still seeing the entire creen) and by the time my 2 year contract was up in 2010, Verizon was trying to get rid of the unlimited data and hotspot useage, but existing customers could keep their unlimited plans on a month to month basis as long as we never signed a new 2 year agreement and phones were only free or extremely discounted with a new contract otherwise you had to pay FULL retail price to get a new phone. Needless to say, most people refused to pay for a $700-1000 phone every 2 years, so most lost unlimited data. I, on the other hand, knew about an app that allowed any phone to be used as a hotspot, even if it "technically" wasn't capable of it (FoxFi, and later a premium paid version to get around some of Verizon's early attempts at eliminating what was essentially 3rd party hotspot hacking) and I used my phone to play Gears of War and Call of Duty on Xbox live.... so after my discounted, but not free, Motorola Droid, I paid full retail price for a Motorola Droid Razr, Droid Razr Max, Samsung Galaxy S5, S6 and S7. Then Verizon blocked 3rd party apps ability to unlock the hotspot ability of devices so I held out until Verizon had a new unlimited plan that included unlimited hotspot use and had started the monthly payment option for phones and since then have paid full price, but on payments, for an S9+ and an S23 Ultra (plus quite a few replacements through assurion over the years lol). The Verizon guy at Best Buy in Rapid City said that it had literally been years since he had seen a customer's account come up with a Nationwide 450 plan (unlimited nights after 7pm and weekends and unlimited in network mobile to mobile) plus I had the added nationwide unlimited text and data package (including an early upgrade to 3g access and 4g access due to my "high bandwith useage" and wanting to "lighten loads on existing infrastructure" even though I live in an area that is one of the last areas to get hardware upgrades) and Assurion total equipment coverage with a $25 deductible all for well under $100 a month. So it took a while for me to bite the bullet on signing a new contract knowing my monthly cell phone bill was about to damn near double and technically I was downgraded because there was a limit on 4g hotspot use at which point you were throttled to 3g hotspot data and that was no longer good enough for Xbox live... And that's how having a good cell phone camera and early access to unlimited mobile data, including KZread, has cost me a small fortune (including KZread premium ever since it first came out as KZread Red, lol)

My neighbor for 14 years is a very famous singer/songwriter, musician, actor. Our kids played together and he was a solid family man. I didn't know who he was at first because I lived in a cave...when I found out I told him and we laughed. I never changed how I was around he or his family. I did become a bit protective of the family...there were crazy people who did things to meet him or see where they lived. My husband and I would stop cars and question people and at times, photograph them and their license plates (we lived on a private road). I have great respect for what they (he and his wife) have accomplished together but I would have felt the same regardless of what they chose to do in life...They are just good people. I saw how the price of fame can really hamper a 'normal' life...

Definitely the type of hippie type of friend i want, just be normal/be urself fr ☮️ 💨
I was downtown Portland once as Lyft driver and I picked up this group of guys from strip club and took them back to their hotel, normal Saturday night stuff. I asked them what they did, they said "We are in a band", kind of laughed and gave me the name. Never heard of them. I could tell by my answer they were relieved. I looked them up later on youtube and I guess they are huge in whatever Metal genre that are in. They were happy to be just able to normal guys though, no selfies or annoying questions.

I think the point he was making is movie stars get treated like they're a different species. And they do. That being said, I think for most movie stars the reality is they're probably not doing anything to try to meet normal people. Like join a BJJ studio if you want to find a friend, but I think a lot of these guys probably have a mentality of, "No, I don't want to have a non famous friend because that doesn't seem like a normal thing to do."

Well unfortunately we put movie stars and such on such as social pedestal that it is true the majority people act towards them very weird
You know, I’ve always felt for these stars and how they can’t just have normal people be their friends anymore. I grew up thinking that there was some way to prove I’m not some weirdo just trying to get celebs to my house so that I can hang with celebs, but a guy with a safe haven and enough real personality to treat them as real people and be a real friend to them. Make them feel normal. Alas I came up with the perfect way, and that is to do nothing, I’m not going to chase anyone down, but I will wait patiently to meet a celeb face to face, and just be that friend. Have a real conversation, not about their work, and hopefully we hit it off and just become natural friends. it’s a 1 in a billion. But that’s the respect that people (including myself) deserve🤷♂️
Every human is still a person. We all deserve love🎉
In my line of work, I’ve met MANY famous people. Most of them are super cool and approachable if you just treat them like a fellow human being. I’ve met some of my all time musical idols and wasn’t star struck at all - which is why I got to have some real conversations with them.

Just stating a fact that certain levels of celebrity end up seeking out other people at the level of fame so the "social level" of these people cancel each others out. Otherwise you end up with an off balance power dynamic that effects how people interact.

Everyone has a special gift within them but Joe is right. For some reason most people treat actors and celebrities like their amazing.
As someone who doesn’t watch or care about movies in general, I honestly don’t think I’d fanboy to 99% of celebrities. Denzel Washington, Keanu reeves and Jackie Chan are the one percent.

Your rare because you just want to chill and enjoy life. So many people are rushing here and there and don’t take the time to for themselves and others. I think that is why road rage is increasing every year.
Give people a moment to get over the initial surprise and admiration. They’d be “normal” to talk to as well.

We have a couple of celebrities that live in our small town. But I think you get that way as soon as you get away from Hollywood.
You will always have a better experience with a celebrity when you treat them like a normal person

Southern people who become celebrities try to keep people around them that keep them grounded.
I am not famous by any means, but I do have quite a few very famous friends, and it is absolutely true, people freaking out around them tends to make them feel very lonely. I personally do not really care for fame, and that is exactly why we stay friends.

That’s exactly how I would be with a celebrity. I don’t necessarily get starstruck. It’s cool to meet them but they are just people, sometimes not so nice people and sometimes very great and beautiful people. It’s the character of the person that matters not their celebrity status.
