Realizing I am WAY beyond the "power curve", catching up on the JRE...but this was my favorite interview in totality of all JRE conversations I've listened to. Robert Downey Jr. is one of the all-time greats for me and it was thoroughly enjoyable to see this side. It just sealed my perspective of the mindset of RBJ, which is simply put, "he is the man." He is just a well-rounded, professional and person.

the end of this podcast when they start talking about self improvement and how it can affect you negatively saved my life. it taught me the difference between holding myself to a higher standard and hating myself for not being good enough.

Joe has an insane talent of bringing out the "I'm just chilling at the bar having a beer" personality of a person.

It wasn't JUST for Joe. I think we all needed it. This interview was the antithesis of the famous interview where RDJ walks out bc the reporter couldn't stop talking about his past drug use. You can tell both Robert (calling himself "bob" is just weird to me) and Joe both respect each other and it was honest and organic. I wish it was longer, but doing a press tour doesn't lend itself to 3 plus hour interviews. I hope he does come back bc dude has lived enough life for 3 lifetimes

No offense, but Jamie's a producer. Jamie's got to be controlling the flow via the switcher, and when he speaks it is to bring information they need so that they don't have to stop conversation. Jamie is a professional, and that's why he's off camera and only speaks when spoken to. I don't know if Jamie ever worked in radio as a producer, but he behaves like a broadcast professional.

I absolutely love him. I have 21 years sober so I have a soft spot for him. So it makes me really happy to see him succeed in his acting and have his life so togather. Nothing is better then to see someone win in life and it makes you really appreciate that you have won too. God bless him🙏❤️

Robert Downey is my top 4 favorite actors of all time! He just has this unique way to deliver actions in the movie that many other actors can’t. Very surprised how simple he is in real life and how easy to talk to him !

The way joe is able to conduct an interview is unreal. At times almost seaming to avoid a particular topic, only to come back to it seamlessly 5 minutes after it was initially presented at a time in the interview that is more befitting of the idea truly special

I know I'm 4 years late to the party but I just gotta say... Speaking as a sober man, this guy lives in the solution and is really an inspiration to people in recovery. I actually am not talking about him as an actor, I'm talking about his program. I can hear it in the way he talks, in the way he let's go and unmarries himself from "THINGS." Very few claw marks here. It's amazing. NO SEEK, NO FIND. Awesome bother.

Love RDJ. He was one of the cute up and comers in the 80's along with Johnny Depp and Rob Lowe. I have always loved him as an actor, but he is very down-to-earth as well. Respect to him for overcoming his demons and mounting the greatest comeback in Hollywood history. Very inspiring.

Yeah, but this was when he was at his peek of popularity. Just got two minutes out of him must be almost impossible, imagine an entire hour of a relaxing chat conversation. This makes you realize how big is The Joe Rogan Experience. Only God knows what Robert had to do after leaving the pod, maybe take a plane to go to the Jimmy Fallon show to promote Dr. Dolittle.

There's a line in "Tropic Thunder" where RDJ says "I stay in character until I finish the commentary for the DVD". Sure enough, he did that commentary in character. Commitment!

Hat tip to Robert. He had some very dark times in the early/ mid 90s and was able to survive, and come out better on the other side. Very inspirational story.

With Joes so smooth laid back interview style it allows the guest to really open themselves up and not be guarded...That's what we want to see not some scripted responses.

I love how he looks both to Joe and Jamie when he speaks so everyone can be involved in the conversation.

social skill mastery... check out charisma on command on him. I really hate celebs, actor hollywood and everything but this guy is genuinely a cool dude we can learn from. He might be a child molester and we don't know but from how he presents himself, it's badass!

I love Joe’s podcast because it’s always very intellectual/ intriguing conversation. You can see why each of these people he interviews got to where they are. They’re smart. I love RDJ

Its funny you say that because some people think he doesnt like being around people that famous on camera for very long and even more so when he likes them genuinely. He likes being candid with them and off camera convos that he wouldn't have on air and so trolls dont pick it apart too much he tries to keep his most important people closer to an hour than others just go down his movie list you'll see all the big people closer to an hour than the "friends" podcasts such as and especially Joey Diaz, Brendan Schaub, every fucking UFC's fighter and C list comedian ever, Joey diaz

Lacy Hart nope, but he grew a lot as human being, is part of him being sober for so long. He always is going to be right there, I love the guy. Very goo story of how he overcome something that was going to killed him for sure. Mel Gibson helped him at the time, this is why he reached ou to Gibson when he started drinking again. True friendship. Both are very creative, can’t stop doing, that’s already a drug.

Joey Diaz podcast he doesn’t just look at Jamie he talks with him, it’s usually people who know Jamie pretty well do these things but just random guests not regs. Jamie not important

I've been a fan most years of my life, never strayed, felt for him when he had public struggles. Dealing with his issues & to come back to KILL l the Ironman roll made me so happy for him.. Ironman can't come back tho, because I cry everytime I watch infiniti war & end game. Such a great actor in so many movies!

Always respected and admired RD.Jr... surviving addiction and Hollywood BS, then owning Hollywood is a great come back story.... much respect Sir.!!

RDJ is such a class act. He deserves everything he has gained. To beat addiction to the ground and rise above that shit a superhero. Kudos, my man.

With the documentary "Sr." coming out in December, I came back to this interview as I recall having a sense when I first listened to it that RDJ wanted to open up more about his dad and some of RDJ's more sensitive topics, but Joe, understandably so, shyed away from it. I am hoping SO hard that RDJ returns to promote his Netflix documentary about his dad and have another amazing conversation with Joe.

Happy for RDJ. I grew up watching him in the 80's. Kid was a mess back then. Portrayed perfectly in the movie Less than Zero. Didn't even have to rehearse for the roll. Just show up and be yourself. Seems to be a decent man. Much respect

Robert's collaboration with Jude Law as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson is the best adaptation since Basil Rathbone of the 1940s not to mention Robert's performance as a Black man in Tropic Thunder. Nobody could pull that off and not insult the Black community but Robert Downey Jr.

I really liked Joe respected the fact that RDJ is a recovered addict and did not even ask him about DMT.

It's taken me 3 years to discover this interview. Downey Jr. is a really interesting guy, that was fascinating. Especially the stuff about Tropic Thunder. God I hope he comes back.

Robert seems like a lovely, lovely guy..... found fame, a prison cell, faced his demons, his adversaries and came back bigger and better. He’s articulate, considered, humble and respectful...... after everything, his feet are firmly on the ground........

When you consider RDJ usually doesn't do interviews for more than 10 mins, over an hour on JRE is pretty insane

We've seen Tropic thunder at least 25 times my husband an I, we know every line and every joke. A great movie with an aswesome cast. From way back when we still had a sense of humor. Mr Downey Jr is an incredibly talented human being.
