At the time, chuck Norris had no desire to be an actor. He only wanted to be a teacher and open up his own chain of dojos. He said that working with Bruce in way of the dragon opened his eyes and he realized this could be a great way to make money AND help him with his dojo chains

Rogan is right in that Lee wasn't a sport fighter, he was a real fighter, a street fighter, he took challenges and he won them every single time. The problem with this today is that everyone wants footage or it isn't real, that's what televised UFC did to the current generation, so sad.

You're worst than I thought, but of course Bruce Lee is a like exaggerated by a few people because he's definitely not the only person to be told to slow down in martial arts/action movies. There's a difference between movies and real life sir, movies are for entertainment and real life is survival. Bruce Lee even said himself he would never use a jumping/flying kick in a real fight. Martial Arts are not obsolete. Martial Arts was what the old soldier or samurai knew. The great Japanese Sword Man Miyamoto Musashi fought with real sword in real fight and was involved in actual wars. However, people confuse combat sports with Martial Arts. The combat sport has evolved. Maybe to a superior status when it comes to competition in an octagon with rules which is fine. But don't take away a soldier's credit or a samurai. We must respect the memory of the warriors. Today the modern warrior uses a rifle and a pistol. That is the Martial Art. A Marine and his rifle is as martial as it gets in the 21st century. We understand some martial arts are not the real deal. Musashi said it in the book of five rings. Don't forget that a person who practices Muay Thai, Boxing, wrestling, Jujitsu and other Martial Arts is at a high level and very difficult to defeat. We should be aware of Military and Combat sport. The word Martial means Military. It's not the soldier's fault that this thing has evolved. Today we can learn more and do more with these great MMA and UFC combat sport and make the Warrior more lethal but lets not take away the credit from the soldier who fought with spears in real wars.

As I understand it, Chuck and Bruce were friends who trained and possibly sparred together. Anytime Chuck has been asked if he could beat Bruce Lee back then he's cleverly avoided answering directly, simply stating "I was the world champ". This could be out of respect for the deceased... but then again if I remember correctly, When Bruce Lee found out the studio had written the Norris/Lee fight scene so that Chuck would win, Bruce threw a fit and stated something to the effect of "if he can't beat me in real life, he's not beating me on screen".

E T yeah. That’s what Bruce said because he thought it was racist for him to lose to a white guy and he wanted to promote martial arts in the west. Norris never said anything about being able to beat Bruce he has said that they never went their because of their respect for one another. He said he made a joke about Bruce wanting to beat the champ and Bruce said “no I want to kill the champ” he’s told that story on about ten different videos I’ve watched. He’s never been disrespectful to Bruce even though other people like to be on his behalf.

Sorry guys. You can't teach speed and you can't teach athleticism. Bruce Lee had both at an elite level. He sparred with professional middleweight and heavyweight kickboxing champions who said he was untouchable. and that he hit like a heavyweight. Just because he came to the United States and chose to make a living as an actor (where he already had experience and could become a much bigger superstar) instead of turning pro doesn't mean he was just an actor. That's ridiculous. This is a dude who could perform multiple two finger push ups. He could knock you on your ass with a jab. He invented his own martial art which was the predecessor to MMA. I'm not joking. Read his books, he has striking, grappling, takedowns, submissions, setups, everything 40-50 years before modern MMA.

Chuck only participated in those tournaments which weren't real fights. Other karate guys like Joe Lewis, Bill Superfoot Wallace, Benny Urquidez and many others made the transition from karate to full contact fighting. Joe Lewis is the father of American Kickboxing. These dudes actually fought hard and had real fights. They were the GOATs of their time for kickboxing. Joe Lewis though admits that Bruce was the greatest, and Bruce trained Joe Lewis, Chuck Norris and Bob Wall. At the same time when Bruce was training them they all began to implement Bruce's training and they exceeded in Karate point fighting tournaments, excelling them to become the champions and men they eventually became to be known as. Bruce Lee greatly shaped the role in being a catalyst for the development of certain aspects of modern MMA as we know it.

Joe Lewis, heavywieght kick boxing champ and student of Bruce's, said that Bruce "coud punch like a heavyweight". Lee did not fight in competition because of the limitations on fighting in those days.. Therefore he had no interest in it. But he was certaiinly "the real deal"acordig to Anderson Silva, Conor McGregor and Sugar Ray Leonard.

Chuck Norris NEVER competed in a kickboxing match. He was a champion point fighter from late 1966 to 1969. Chuck retired from point fighting in 1970, the same year that fellow point fighting champion Joe Lewis competed in the first kickboxing match in the United States. Lewis knocked out Greg Baines in the 2nd round and he credits training with Bruce Lee as being the main factor in this historical victory.

The late Joe Lewis and several other martial artists have called out Chuck Norris for his erroneous claim that he was a kickboxing champion. From 1965-1970, Norris competed in point fighting tournaments, and he NEVER competed in a kickboxing match. In terms of Norris' relationship with Bruce Lee, he trained with Bruce from 1968-1970, at Lee's home in Culver City. For over 20 years, Chuck claimed that he and Bruce never sparred, but in 1998, he finally admitted that they sparred several times at Lee's home. For a guy who prides himself on being the nicest guy in the world, Norris seems to have a problem with stating the truth.

we know bruce is fast..but if he goes to fight a regular competing martial artist like chuck and a world champ in a real fight, hes gonna get beat up..training and sparring regularly is different from an actual fight..timing can negate speed..theres a story happened to bruce against the filipino musician and a martial artist trovador ramos sr..ramos teaches timing and rhythm in martial arts,he applied the rhythm and timing of music to his technique..that is what negate bruce speed in their sparring, with bruce touching the canvas twice without ramos inflicting blows to avoid embarrasment of the big star..
