Why is this guy not in the R&R Hall of Fame?

JJ is not rock and roll. He has no category. Not really a good player on his records, but the songs are like XTC and not quite Elvis Costello. He has no category. He's just going to be his own outsider thing. Probably more great songs than a lot of R&R Hall of Fame denizens but nobody talks about him. Why is that?

Seen him twice in Melbourne. Genius. Hope he is remembered as such.

Saw this tour. (I'm old.) Best sound and mix of any live performance ever. Drums and vocals were magical. No Graham Maby on bass was a bummer and a rarity and the guitar was a bit weird but everything else was out there.

GREAT audio! My favorite album by Joe Jackson, 'Big World'.

Best and most underrated. It's an anomaly throughout the entire music business for that reason, in my opinion.

My goodness how I love this man! One of my five “musical geniuses” (Todd Rundgren, Pete Townshend, Roger Waters and Peter Gabriel)

Not actually the tour, but the recording of the Big World album. (On the Live in Tokyo video, I believe it's Tom Teeley on guitar, instead of Vinnie Zummo.) I owned a copy of the official video on beta at the time.

Think this was his best album

JJ - What a talent. Tight band too. For taking Grant’s spot, the bassist is rather good.

The drummer ALWAYS gets the blame. After they stopped the song (during the intro) Joe turns to the drummer and says " what happened?...you were a little slow,right?" But Joe is the one who counted off the song!

@@betofae No he is not right. It was the drummer that fucked up. Listen to it again. The drummer clearly missed another few bangs on the snare.

And Joe missed a few lyrics there, too. Yet, it still was an awesome performance. One of my favorite JJ lps.
