Many people really don't realise how big of a talent Gomez is. He was playing u18 football at the age of 13. At the age of 17, he already had around 30 first team appearances for Charlton in a very physical league. He helped England win the u17 Euros, was given the captain's armband for England u21, given his England debut at centreback against Brazil when he was only playing fullback for Liverpool. The England coaches have always rated him extremely highly and before a year or two ago he was easily England's biggest centreback talent in the past 5-6+ years. He was literally described as a wonderkid/prodigy at Charlton and it wasn't undeserved. Liverpool's defensive record with him in the team is miles better than without him too so this argument that VVD saves him is nonsense, he has also played a few times without VVD and was given MOTM in quite a few of the games. The only reason his development slowed down is due to him having 3 major injuries all in different seasons. Soon you'll all see how talented he is.

Gomez speaks like a veteran in this game man, his maturity for his age isn’t spoken about enough, the guys still a child in football terms

What an amazingly humble and level headed young man. His choice of close team friends also says a great deal. I've always had respect for the way he's bounced back from setbacks but getting this small insight into the personality and mindset of this young man has given me a more profound adulation. I pray he goes on to be a great in the game and more importantly in his personal life.

He is England’s best centre back atm. No debate.

Lets be honest here. I'm not saying Joe Gomez ain't good, but come on maguire is better than him all round, heading ability, passing, going out with the ball, breaking passes. All Gomez got is pace. I'll ACTUALLY have Maguire and Mingz in my back line any day of the week

D-D-D-DAam Gomez is better on the ball, is SOOOOO much quicker, has unreal ball control, passing is excellent, very strong and very good in the air. Tbh he also has a decent strike on him. Better than Maguire in my personal opinion but I can see your point... no disrespect on Maguire or Stones etc. I think it depends on how England play tbh

@@georgemiddlemore2458 VVD, Koulibaly, Varane, Laporte, De ligt (de ligt maybe too young to put in there ) out of the players ive watched enough to judge. Although older players like Ramos/Pique/Godin would all get a shout. Gomez doesn't get near any of those imo. Good player though Gomez and I do think he could develop in to a top cb but needs to stay uninjured and secure the spot alongside VVD, or go elsewhere.

It's a huge comfort and thrill we all look forward to once (or often twice) a week and that I know we all miss dearly. There are things more important than football but, even as a musician that loves gigging and going to concerts and festivals, there's something unbelievably special about the way football brings people together and, as a matey here put it, we are really like a big family. I'm a music and English teacher and an aspiring songwriter and music therapist, and this song just flowed from me back in January. I've recorded it with what basic means I have at home during lockdown but my heart and soul have gone into it and the accompanying video. I would absolutely love if it reached the squad to show my appreciation for letting us dream again and the amazing grit and mentality they've displayed throughout the entire season so far. He’s been on the first team his first ever season I’m not a huge maguire fan but just look at what he did at the Word Cup and his performances for United have been amazing a consistent.
