I read somewhere the guitarists had to do the backing vocals as the actual backing singers were held up for some reason

Yes. The backing singers were stuck in traffic, which was a common problem at Woodstock, for a lot of the bands.

Small rural town, two lane roads. 450,000 people. most people were lucky to get within 40 miles of Woodstock.

It’s usually women who back him up in the studio, but for the show they used the band singing in falsetto to create that high sounds of the backup vocals.

Woodstock was 450,000 people from what I’ve read he had back up singers but the traffic to even get there was so jammed up they couldn’t get in in time so they made due with the people they had.

Was this a hippy movement… meanwhile the video is taken directly from Woodstock. Honey…. I think it’s hippie.

I recommend you find and watch John Belushi imitating this performance!

Is this intentional? Son, there wasn't nothin' intentional at Woodstock. That wasn't water he drank at the begining of the video.

His female backup singers were stuck in traffic, so the men had to do the female high parts!!

Please tell me you have heard of Woodstock and know what it was and how it was a giant pivot in history….? (Note: I was not born yet.) Please find a documentary on Woodstock. You won’t regret it, and it’s good for becoming more cultured about the world! LOL. It changed history and the future. Ripple effect man. It’s about you too. It was weird and seems monumentally absurd. THE LIKELIHOOD OF SUCCESSFULLY PUTTING ON THIS CONCERT WAS ABOUT 0.01%. A couple of people whom had like NO MONEY asked a guy if they could borrow his farm land for a few days. They didn’t know the whole frkng world was gonna show up to the point of not being able to control, function, or supply the event which turned into total mud fest because it rained like crazy! Bands couldn’t even get in or out by helicopter at points, no food, no water, NOT ENOUGH PORTAPOTTIES, nobody died, 3 babies were born during that show. IT WAS UNREAL AND AN EXTREMELY FRIENDLY PLACE. A very strange pocket in time. SO… nobody minded that the back up vocalists were stuck in traffic, in the mud. Lol. Almost everybody was totally ripped on drugs anyway. Lol. It wasn’t like now where people would actually at least bring a sleeping bag and a few bucks with them!! Nope; people just hitchhiked like they were going to a party across town! It was probably like a nightmare to get out of there after. I’ve NEVER HEARD ANYONE SAY THEY WISH THEY HADN’T GONE. ✌️

Just shut up and let the man do his thing and don’t stop every minute.
