Yes, it's an American song that's almost 100 years old, and has been recorded by many artists, but this is my favourite version.

With this song Joe Brown put everybody in tears at the end of the Concert for George in 2002. The song is from 1924 (by Isham Jones & Gus Kahn) but was very popular when the Beatles were young boys (near 1950) thanks to a movie with the same name and the title song in hands of Doris Day and Danny Thomas. A good song to practice ukelele with George.

Edward Whitwell. I was lucky enough to be there that night at the concert for George at the Royal Albert Hall. We actually had free tickets courtesy of Joe himself. He is my dads cousins husbands cousin ( I know it's a tricky one). There were 6 of us together that night. None of us had any idea that Joe was going to sing this. But there was not a dry eye amongst us. Thank you Joe, it was a great fitting tribute to George

I know I'm being a picky bugger, but there's no way you can play this in 3/4 time without it being ridiculous. So Last Dance it may have been: Last Waltz it wasn't. Yeah, I know......It's a beautiful song, so who gives a shit what you danced to it. You probably got lucky anyway B-) .

Shakey Pitt actually you can split it in to 3/4. If you can split 3 subdivided notes into each beat, you can turn it into 3/4.

shirley lane . Oh my god this just gets spookier. I've just replied to someone who was at the same gig in shanklin, I.O.W 5 years ago. But now you have appeared. I saw that too, my mum 'dragged' me along. Apparently Joe brown is some sort of relation. My late dads, cousins, husbands, cousin....yeah a bit of a loose relationship I know 😀 but anyway, yes I too saw Charlie girl. It was in 1966 (it actually opened in 1965) when I was just 8. For some reason I always thought it was at the Victoria palace, but I've just checked & it was the Adelphi theatre. Somewhere in the attic I am sure I probably still have the program. Gathering dust with a lot of other junk/stuff. But you have just brought back some long forgotten memories. Not really of the show, but seeing the bright lights at night in the west end. Ah lovely days! & thanks for reminding me Shirley. Best wishes Steve
