Joe Biden and Anthony Albanese toast to long friendship between US and Australia
President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese raised their glasses at the White House state dinner in a toast to the long friendship between the United States and Australia.
Mr Albanese and his girlfriend Jodie Haydon were welcomed to the White House in a lavish State Arrival Ceremony on Wednesday (local time) in Washington, DC.
“We stand as close as we have ever been, and I think after this week, closer than we have ever been,” Mr Albanese said at the state dinner.
President Biden recognised the bond between Australia and the United States, which was “first forged in the battlefield”, has gone on to capture the full range of human ingenuity.
“Australian and American workers are building the future together,” he said.
