    I feel like this is the result of what has been observed by the media itself for a long while now, only that they've been saying that about their competitors, but never took the time to check themselves. What are supposed to be impartial reporters and investigators of the truth, have become propagators and pushers of their own organization's agendas and propaganda. When the news anchors are just blurting things out and suggesting that viewers should have to fact check what that they said, a flag should've gone up. Also, I wouldn't say it was malicious intent that led us to this point, but that their goal has shifted so much from news to entertainment.

    John Doe: One, I didn’t make that qualification regarding the numbers; the original poster did. I simply responded accordingly; 2, You say people aren't that stupid? Says who? Americans are the least educated and knowledgeable of foreign affairs, languages, and disparate cultures, societies, and social norms amongst all Westernized countries and the least exposed universally; 3 To paraphrase (16% minimum?), you assert that if there were indeed all of these racist, overt racist practices would be occurring. Not necessarily so. In order for that which you’ve espoused to occur, irrespective of the numbers, there’d need to be sets of “conditions” set in place to make it more-or-less “permissible” to overly practice those behaviors, which of course we’re beginning to see since 11/8. Nazi Germany is a classic text book case in point. 4, To paraphrase, you assert that he was popular enough to win. Be mindful of he fact that he did not win the popular vote(i.e., the majority vote of the people) - Hillary did; He won the Electoral College vote, which is something entirely entirely different.

    It's not that they blatantly lie, they have it down to an art-form and a science. For the most part these people are are actors playing roles. It's the fact that they present news without any context, have a short memory and omit critical information from their so called news stories that has shaped the world in their image. The evidence to the contrary exits for anyone that has the time to cross-check sources. Once the critical omissions have been found it's easy to spot the difference between the narrative and reality. Even now they are doing it, every single word is to lead you away from the truth, like a magician. That's just what they do.

    ThaMobstarr the electoral college is so that all states, which are very different from eachother, have a say in who becomes president. without it, 2 states would decide who governs all 50. it's fair, even if people don't want to agree with it. this isn't the first time the popular vote lost, and won't be the last.

  • @jasonkrug7928

    @jasonkrug7928

    How is it fair? With the electoral college, your vote does not matter at all unless you live in a swing state (which typically is just a few if not one, really). All 50 would be counted and decided. Every state is complex, with different counties doing different things.

    Omair Sheikh I disagree, I find career KZreadrs to be incredibly irresponsible in their reporting. Though they may not be "bought" there is no evidence that they are not (a claim, like what Casey Neistat added with his "Who I am Voting For" video does not suffice as proper evidence). Though KZreadrs are very influential this does not justify their credibility as a reporter or an individual with enough experience to exercise their beliefs accurately, safely and effectively to be considered more qualified (or as qualified) than reporters. You are right about mainstream media though. I strayed away from all of these sources and relied on primary sources to make my decision.

    As an immigrant and naturalized citizen, I didn't know Trump that well, certainly not his political views. I live in a rural area in NC, and I'm painfully aware how much working Americans are suffering economically. Once I passed the threshold to support Trump, which was a couple months ago, it still was agonizingly difficult. I had to invest my time to figure out his political stance and policy. But I couldn't help wondering to myself why I should continue spend my time and energy to support a candidate that nearly all expert pollsters, NYT and MSM say with a certainty that he will lose. And if you're a his supporter, you are a racist, homophobe, xenophobe and you name it. I couldn't help to think what the media is saying for days and months is that don't even bother to vote, since he had no path to victory. That was demoralizing every step of the way. In my mind this type media bias amounts to voter suppression, undermining the democratic process. Thank you for ignoring and ridiculing my voice, my neighbors' voice, the voice of the American heartland!

    I really enjoyed this analysis. This is really important to discuss (media bias) and reflect upon and I think that reflection should continue well beyond when the dust has settled on this election result. It's easy to fall into the trap of presenting your opinion as fact. I don't think this conversation should necessarily be in the context of "the media are to blame for Trump" but in the context of "how can we make sure all communities/viewpoints in society are represented from now on". I really respect MSNBC for their efforts to address their own bias even though they might not be successful all the time.

    As a Donald Trump supporter in Michigan. I never really saw the other sides younger crowd, most of them were too old or too young. I'm a gas station manager, I meet Trump supporters everyday and actively spoke about it. When I finally did meet some of her supporters they only mocked Trump. Calling his support proof of racism in America. I never spoke about my support of Trump with those customers, only quietly agreed. It would be bad for business had I started those debates. One of my customers said it right: "Together we tell each other, but maybe to our spouses, friends and coworkers that support Hillary we don't let them know. When we go into that booth we write in Trump and that is how he wins." Michigan was peculiar to me, it's my little bubble, I've never lived or even visited outside of Michigan, I'm 23 now and want to explore the world. We never had strong Hillary supporters or BLM activist or protest of any kind. Detroit almost seemed like a grown-up city with grown-up problems. I truly believe my home state sees the reality of it all, we understand most of what was going on.

    Yes, blacks like myself can be prejudice against allowing over 100K of refugees from terrorist states to have asylum in the U. S when there is no way to vet them, as Hillary said "behind closed doors". Yes, the phrase ILLEGAL immigrants starts with the word ILLEGAL... just like illegal U turn, illegal drugs etc. I'll tell you what, here is a homework assignment for you. Find a homeless person that you have never met and allow that person to use your house as a primary residence. Oh, that sounds crazy to you doesn't it. You proved my point, by calling me a bigot, you have no facts and just like most Dems they use every "ist" in the book to try to win a conversation without using any facts. Just too emotional!

    This election was an anomaly. The polls did not take into account how angry and dissatisfied the voters were. This emotion should have added more weight in Trump's metric. It is not completely the fault of the media. But there is some fault. On Morning Joe, they actually discussed in earnest if Hillary would get 400 Electoral votes.

    I don't think that's true. The pollsters have no reason in becoming a discredited institution. Their job is built around probability and trust. Get it wrong and they are considered worthless. They were incorrect because they failed to identify the motivations of the very large 'undecided' group.

  • @FaithwalkerTodd

    Mogwai786 You said "Get it wrong and they are considered worthless." So they are worthless. They admit it was all about them trying to help Hillary win. It's not their job to help anyone. They are supposed to be silent reporters of the news. They admitted removing Trump numbers because they wouldn't believe that many supported him. The polls are all meant to make you act, and they admit it. If you accept the polls you are falling for the propaganda.

    You have written a lot factually incorrect points and unsubstantiated assertions. Firstly, you say "They admit it was all about them trying to help Hillary win", without offering any evidence to support this claim. Secondly, when you say "They are supposed to be silent reporters of the news", it appears you conflate pollsters with journalists. The pollsters' job is not to "report the news", but to accurately calculate and predict political persuasions through modelling. Thirdly, the polls are NOT meant to "make you act", they are suppose to inform. Again, if they are not doing their job, then no-one listens to them - that's hardly a recipe for self-interest. Your last sentence is just a piece of rhetoric that you have failed to support.
