Look at the respect there between those two, they were great rivals and great friends. The 1990 world final showed that totally when Jocky won 6-4 after being 5-0 up, Jocky was in tears and Eric was hugging him, I'll never forget that. Darts rules all.

This is the 1983 Unipart British Professional Championship semi-final. Jocky went on to beat Dave Whitcombe in the final.

To be fair, Jocky Wilson was a real fighter, he certainly silenced the Crafty Cockney that night. Thanks for this, great darts and totally agree with those who said the players of today have it easy.

@drlemoncobra It depends on the tournament. If you look at the backdrop you can see it was the British Professional Championship, so that was obviously the format. The Winmau World Masters to this day, also has sets that are best of 3. The World Championships always had sets of 5 though. (Apart from the inaugural year which was legs only.)

jockey now lives as a recluse in his hometown kickcaldy (scotland).he used to live just up the road from me a place called battlehill (north tyneside).tis a shame what a charicter

its always been that way in the BDO. I think they may have changed in the latest world champs but im not 100% but its usually 2 legs to a set. Its not as good cos you dont get a chance to come back = less drama.

i swear in that first leg eric hits treble 5 on his first dart leaving 85. But Tony, Eric + scorer think its a single. Maybe I need to go to specsavers but it certainly looks like a treble.

It's a single 5, it touches the top of the wire on the single side no sign of the point in the treble

the boards are much easier now, with far bigger trebles and doubles due to the wire being so much thinner
