I Love Rock 'n Roll is a song by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts.
It was the biggest hit for Joan Jett (born Joan Marie Larkin, September 22, 1958), the American rock singer, songwriter, composer, record producer and actress that became known with her group The Blackhearts after she left the all girl group The Runaways.
The Runaways had a massive hit with the song "Cherry Bomb".
The Blackhearts' version of the song "I Love Rock 'n Roll" was # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks in 1982.
Joan Jett's other notable hit songs include "Bad Reputation", "Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah)", "Light of Day", "I Hate Myself for Loving You" "Crimson And Clover" and "Dirty Deeds".

As a young black male, I initially had reservations regarding 80s rock for a couple of reasons: one, there were so great R&B songs during that era. Two: MTV didn’t play many R&B songs in the early 80s, which rubbed me the wrong way. But as the 80s moved, I found myself playing Journey songs in my car as well as this song, Pat Benetar, Howard Jones, Madonna…and the list kept growing. So I learned to appreciate all great 80s music and there is no question, 80s rock rules. Simply the best.

I saw her recently back in March! Would love to have met her, but her crew said she wasn't feeling well.
This song really is the definition of Rock 'n' Roll! And it's inevitable to become a hit again.... Jett is the definition of Rock 'n' Roll.

Back when this song came out, it was played frequently on the radio, I fell in love with it, and my niece, who was very young, sat in the backseat and listened while I blasted it and sang along with it. To this day she tells me that whenever hears it now, it always makes her think of me. How great to have this iconic song seared into her memory 40 years later!

I do not think that there has ever been a women in modern times that has Joan Jetts eyes. She is amazingly beautiful. Add the eyes and her attitude with a great voice, perfect performer.

I watched a bio on Joan. She loved music and she loved covering songs -- that she liked -- by other artists. It was her way of paying homage to them. I was always drawn to her voice. She had, what I call, the intense singing voice. If I could have had a music wish, back then, it would have been to see Joan and Billy Idol do a duet. He also had that type of intense singing voice. I think it would have been a battle of the voices.
It brings me to the 80s... Sweet memories back then...

I still remember the 1st time I heard this nugget of gold on "Smash or Trash" FM 97.5 WMEE in Ft Wayne Indiana. I'm still obsessed with it 40 years later!!!!!! I loved seeing her in concert in 1984 the night I lost my virginity.
Came from the first time I ever seen Joan Jett on TV or hurt her thing I fell in love this woman from day one I wish you God I could have met her I went to one of her a couple of her concerts rock concerts before wanting to wind down in LA she's playing in the nightclub I think it was some kind of club I don't remember about her age maybe a couple years older yeah I've seen her I seen her in a few places at rock concert before my heart just dropped every time I heard her saying and seen her I wish God I knew her I wish I could made nothing this woman forever I worshiped her I had so much love in my heart for that woman John get I think she's going to breathtaking his beautiful woman I have ever seen perform saying or anything else worship the ground she walked on I can play a guitar too and lead guitar I can play a whole lot better in her lead player I know that personally I think I don't think he's all that good he's all right but he ain't that good I can do a whole lot better and play it ready kind of music that there is blue with some blues on up mostly Rock I don't like punk rock but I like hard rock and I like easy rock but I played back up before for real bad company as a lead player I played back up for four or five different groups before and I wish that guy I could have met John get in person my heart would probably burst in my chest that woman would have walked up and gave me a kiss planning to kiss on me I think I would have died on the spot I love her so much she's always had my heart and all my love she still does even though I'm a year or you're almost two years older than her she still has all my love
