I helped a Friend with his Resume. Instead of saying he was a Paperboy, he was a Publishing Courier, instead of saying he worked in a Coffee House, he was a Java Bartender, instead of saying he was a Short Order Cook he was a Chef specializing in Blue Collar Cuisine. It worked, and he got the job. He was so happy he couldn't thank me enough.

If any of you can please Read The Roommating Season by Rona Jaffe whose other Book The Best Of Everything also by her was featured when Don Draper was at home in Bed. It's about Four Ladies and how their lives changed who first meet in 1963 and how their lives change in 50 Years. They also see how challenging it is to find the proper Roommate.

They realize how much they kept themselves from moving forward and that it was caused by society. Joan really does remind me of Marilyn Monroe in a way. Something very tragic about her.

I think that Joan's ad in real life would attract a nightmare for a roommate. The only good advice she gave was that Peggy shouldn't have only been posting the ad at work. Branching out can be a good thing, although a lot of times, you attract psychos. You made a very good point about classes. I took Gender Psychology when I was an under-grad, and it did make me question a lot about gender roles and sexual orientation. I had fun taking that course.

And then again Joan would not know because the only roommate we seen her with in the series, knew her from college. "Branch Out" my ass

The conversation that Joan had with Peggy parallels a Young Up & Coming Writer from Radcliffe (Class Of 1953). She went to visit her friend who was a Secretary at The Publishing House Simon & Schuster and met Movie Director Jerry Wald who already hit Pay Dirt with Peyton Place. Jack Goodman her Friend's Boss bragged about how she would write a Book, it would be published. It almost took a Year to type on a Manual Typewriter, it was Published, became a Bestselling Novel, then a Hit Movie. It was called "The Best Of Everything" which was considered to be one of the many Prototpyes for Mad Men as well as "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying". Her name was Rona Jaffe and along with Mary McCarthy were Pioneers in Chick Lit Novels.

I have yet to meet anyone who had a Roommate and they didn't create problems for them.

She's right about that. They said this about Mary Tyler Moore in terms of her show. The biggest mistake she made was that she didn't know how to have Friends outside The Office. Sometimes you need to be away from people that you work with and if you Room with someone who works at the Same Company that you do, anything can happen. Suppose one of you gets fired, how can you have a "civil" relationship, it would get too complicated.
