I always liked her better than her sister Olivia. I remember oh so many years ago when Olivia DeHaviland was here in Chicago in a play. And my friend and I wanted to meet her and perhaps get an autograph, but she wouldn't come out to see us. On the other hand Joan Fontaine would greet and talk to her fans. She was naturally friendly. And she did an autograph signing on her autobiography "No Bed of Roses" . And she took time to talk to all of us in spite of the line waiting to see her.

Delightfully camp in “Serenade” and “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea”.Rather insipid in “Island in the Sun”.Great in “Rebecca”.

I love the actresses from that era plus the films. But sadly they were treated like cattle & worse. For any woman to get ahead it was not just talent she had to rely on.

These two women were among the strongest power brokering at the time. Both negotiated favorable contracts for themselves, though Joan was arguably the better businesswoman.

She died on December 15th of 2013, not the 16th.

Olivia got to use the Last Name.. She seemed to be the Favorite.. She was Kind of Bubbly, Wild, Too Tough & Sometimes Frightening.. U have to Watch Everything. Joan was Very Good.. But Often Given the Very Soft, Softy Roles.. I've Read Rebecca.!!! I hate the C. Grant in Suspicion... I Wish Joan would have lived as long as Olivia.!!! They Knew how to Protect their Lives... Love Self, Protect Life, Make Beautiful Memories.. Peace..!!! I guess I'm More Like Joan.. Born around the Same Time of the Year..!!! & Olivia is like my Sisters & Brother... Most of them Are Narcissistic Totalitarians.. They did what they Could to Make Me Suffer... They Wouldn't even Tell me When & Where their Mother's Funeral Was..!!! Olivia did the Same Thing... Crazy World.. As Earth Strikes Back.. Peace..!!!

It always sucks when someone younger dies before the older person.
