They deserved to hear the criticism. Being the top trainees means higher expectations and at this point in the show, you gotta start fighting harder but not memorizing the lyrics is really critical.

Jo Kwon trained for 8 to 10 years before he debuted, so he knows how intense the training is, and he gives the right criticism so the trainees won't make the same mistakes again.

Fans need to realize that criticisms like this is every important for their idols to grow. They don't need to be "babied" at all times, because when they debut, they will hear more cruel words esp. these days that the internet is literally everywhere. If they don't have strong foundation or mentality to handle such things, they won't be able to survive the real world. Jo-Kwon, out of all the judges, is my favorite. He gives great feedback when he sees improvement but at the same time, uses his sharp tongue to advise trainees.

Exactly, without constructive critism, they won't be able to get better and better. Learning never stops and hearing only good things won't let you see your full potential. If you think the way the judges judged were unfair then that means you only want to hear what you want to hear. These judges actually take their time to focus on every detail and mentor these trainees, they didn't hate on them just for fun. They wouldn't want those trainees to debut just to get bashed by netizens, they want the trainees to be able to show their fans that they do deserved their spots.

But in this show, it seems as if the judges are criticizing for dramatic effect. like take lee hyun smth guy for example he will just completely shit on older trainees if they make small mistakes but for younger trainees with good visuals he will be biased and say they at least improved no matter what! and when they criticize, they don't really give good feedback, they just scold. that's why some trainees are losing confidence and some completely crashed (like Iris). and I feel like judges can be judges w/o actually scold and making a face the whole time, take Soyeon, Seungyoon, Woozi as a guest judge and JYP for eg

@@iris7879 idk how nice mentors have to be for you guys to be satisfied bc i sure do think trainees need to be humbled and made aware of room for improvement no matter how "good" you as an audience think they are. as a fan of kpop since 2008, i can assure you that the judges are nowhere as bad as yall make them out to be (not that i think the idol treatment in the past generations are perfect). ofc guest judges like woozi will come off abit nicer because they literally dont know the girls and are only appearing for 1 episode, it shouldn't be compared to judges who know the weakness and strengths of the girls. i am not defending the judges bc i also dont agree with everything they've said (jiwoo's my pick and they nitpick on her skills too) but fans need to realise that they don't see or hear everything the judges do so we cannot assume that we know any better than them. p.s. iris really did need the feedback to have a reality check, her attitude and skills were really not it. i'm sure with more time and training she'll be more ready to debut in the future :)

Jokwon debuted under jyp and one thing that he learnt from jyp is that jyp hates trainees/singers who didn't memorized lyrics the most. That's why jokwon scolded the girls in here. It's to show how passionate you are as a singer. It's an attitude problem an individual has to fix. You have to discipline yourself.

the problem I feel is that the top trainees do badly in training because they think they are the cream of the crop (hence they slacked till scolded by the judges) and then they picked up the pace again; which is alarming for potential idols...

if the fans are angry at these judges when they give constructive criticisms to the trainees then they have never met SM idols as Mentors/judges because when SM Idols appears as mentors/judges they give brutal criticisms and scolds the trainees, whenever they saw the trainees make any mistakes that can be avoided with proper practices and concenterations

Wow, the judge actually did great job at correction the girls... They told them their mistake and how to be better... Thats how survival show should be.... And Goddess Gyuri is just beautiful as ever....

Fr, they 'might' sounds good for now, but when they debut? 😂. Are the fans defending them now still will defend their shortcomings? For sure they'll be switching side quicker than lighting. Especially if they take a long time to debut after this show end.

those criticisms were valid and trust me they were not as harsh as those you will get in the actual industry

i love minju's voice. She has such character in her voice.

I cant sing a single note but even still I watch some of these audition shows scratching my head wondering if we are both listening to the same thing. This was brutal but honest, if they sound like crap now when the public and media get to them it will be worse and the stress of more songs will get to them. They had really brutal honest comments from the judges and whilst I dont know the others I do know Lee Hyun and Jo Kwon and they have outstanding vocals and know there stuff......

The thing is, this song is a staple for the heart of Kpop. And it's not like they're doing a hard choreo and they're all Korean so memorising lyrics should be easier for then. So it's bit disappointing to have trainees , supposed to be at the top to be slacking. Because if you're one of the bests, you should always be wary and practice hard.

Literally what happened now to Illit 💀 They should have practiced in the pre-debut. Vocally speaking, expert Minjae Jung was very disappointed. They have a long way to go until they are vocally pleasant. The most basics is to sing your recorded parts and if you can't do that you're not a professional rookie. That's an area Illit needs to improve according to him. No member really stands out to him in the debut. He wants to praise Minju for her unique voice but she is not a good vocalist, she has potential to become a good vocalist if she practices. Wonhee stands out to him when it came to expressive ability. She had the shortest time of training which impressed him. Overall the grade is quite low for him because they lacked basics in this debut. He hopes to see improvements for the comeback and show him their professional side by taking their job serious. I can't agree with him more. If they had the basics they wouldn't get bashed by netizens in the first place. We can blame this on Bang PD and Belift who didn't take vocal lessons to their hearts. Hybe has been controversial when it comes to provide heavy vocal training for their girl groups. MHJ put effort into that with NewJeans so they never got the same shitty treatment as Lesserafim and Illit. So their vocals turned out decent, not great or good, just average decent. Fromis_9 was signed to Off The Record so they were provided vocal training before they joined Pledis. GFriend was trained by Source Music when they were small and not a label to Hybe. So this is probably a management problem at Hybe.

The problem is the fans are always being angry at everything. Criticisms are needed for someone's growth. If you keep pampering and babying someone, he/she would never grow to their max potentials. No pain no gain

This is way too tame vs the criticisms they give to trainees off cam. "DO YOU WANT TO DO THIS OR NOT?" "DO YOU WANT TO QUIT?" "WE CAN REPLACE YOU WITH ANOTHER TRAINEE, THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF YOU" and my personal fave "DID YOUR PARENTS NOT TEACH YOU WELL?"

Criticism should flow normally as it motivates them to do their work properly. However, being dependent on criticism, orders, and slacking off just because you've reached a certain stage where your talents have been recognized.. immediatley puts you at the bottom.

It is funny how in this kind of show, 'fans' upset how judge being harsh when later once they debut, the 'fans' would be harsher

This comment is late but I had to say this, you have to remember the stages have heavily edited vocals to make all of the girls look better. Like very edited, in some stages they sound really robotic. The only non edited parts we get are the mid-term evaluations and some little clips through the episode. Jihyun sounded stable to you due to the editing, but the judges hear it live and also have an earpiece to hear it clearly so they know if they sang well or not. So most likely she was unstable, similar to the mid-term

Hate the judges all you want but don't forget that this is a survival show, in order to debut they need to learn the hard way and survive so they can be the best idols. Besides the judges are professionals and experienced they know what they are doing. It's just that the editing really sucks.

I hear some yg blood in minju's vocal deym that yg swag and vocal technique is really her weapon to fame, I hope hybe wont remove that from her cause that technique really suits her. I heard a mix of CL, Rosé and lee hi in her perf

Since is also builds them . Many of you were aware no matter how good the idols are there will always be hates . All these trainee are there to be judge from them professional . Entendí algunos puntos,por ejemplo cuando veo a New Jeans en especial Hanni ella siempre está con la misma energía en el baile, expresión facial y canto aunque no esté en el centro,es decir debes de disfrutar de todo el baile y no solo actuar de esa manera cuando la cámara te enfoca.Tal como lo hace Ji Min,creo que hay mucho potencial en todas ellas pero si o si deben disfrutar de su presentación,es como si tú trabajo fuera alegrar y llamar la atención del público con tu actuación,es tu trabajo y debes saber realizarlo a la perfección.Parece cruel pero algunos profesores también me lo mencionaban en mis clases,uno puede esforzarse mucho pero sino logras cumplir tu objetivo ese tiempo invertido desaparece,más que todo es enfocarte en tu meta y ser constante,eso es muy importante.

Look honestly after seeing some controversy about these shows idk what to believe. Some of the PD’S make contestants act a sort of way for views. Its always for views.

Constructive criticism is needed for every idol. Even if they decided to lipsync for every live performance they'll have in the future, they'll still look bad if their lips aren't sync to the lyrics.

I was a Hyewon bias and this stage was what made me the most upset. Hope she gets the chance to debut in the future

I’m new to Kpop and trainees and all that but after watching Korean tv shows and dramas I just wanted to ask if it’s common for everyone to have Botox? Or as a culture are they relatively expressionless facial wise compared to Western and African countries when people speak. Especially the forehead / eyes areas. I know it’s not all of them of course but I definitely notice. (I’m South African btw)

' I cringed all throughout watching this even when I didn't want or expect to then again, ROOM TO GROW and GET BETTER. @@andredaniel6658 A bit before the pandemic is when the preference of visuals and dance over live vocals began taking over and was officially cemented into practice with 4th gen. The only artists I know to be very reliable with singing live vocals at every show are all 2nd gen, early 3rd gen or bands. The few 4th gen artists I can think of to atleast make an actual effort to sing with live vocals are all soloists, with most of them being ex-group members. These days fans don't care about actual music or artistry. All you need is a pretty face and some dance. True, visuals have been important through all of the generations, but the emphasis on good looks has only peaked. Been an active listener and participant in the Korean music industry since like 2011 or so, which is 2nd gen. Everything has only gone downhill.

I think hybe don't focus on their trainees. They only focus on debut 4 to 5 groups in one years that's why their trainers lack skill
