is it grammatically incorrect if the counter is near to the subject like "５台車を買いました"? I know the 車 is omitted but I am talking about what if the counter is placed to the subject because they are usually placed near to the 動詞

5台くるまを買いました。is okay!! Sounds natural. But it’s not a subject. The subject of 5台くるまを買いました。 should be わたしは. But it’s omitted!! I bought 5 cars. = (わたしは) くるまを5台かいました。 = (わたしは) 5台 くるまを かいました。 👆both are the exact same meaning and correct!!

depending on what's being counted as well as formality(?) し may be used over よん According to ChatGPT: "「し」 and 「よん」 both represent the number 4 in Japanese, but 「し」 is more commonly used in everyday language, while 「よん」 is often used in specific situations, such as when counting musical beats or as a substitute for "shi" in certain words, such as 四季 (shiki, four seasons) or 四角形 (shikakkei, square shape). In general, both can be used interchangeably in most situations, but 「し」 is more common." Either way, let's take my comment with a grain of salt and see if 先生 responds instead :))
