    Mzee Gitu wa kahengeri.... How i would love to shake the hand of the old veteran hero.....and tell him thank you..for my freedom...that i and others enjoy today in this country. I shall forever be grateful for the sacrifice of his generation....men and women who suffered so much, lost everything and died...so that i am freeeee..in a country called kenya...kiri..nyaga.. Every kenyan owes them for whatever you have or enjoy today.. Kenya..is the only country in africa that fought .....a freedom war. 7 years to boot..to attain freedom.     You're stupid. The MauMau people who faced the worst wrath of the white colonists are the ones who were detained in the 1950s during the state of the emergency. That was a time when the many detention camps were so concentrated and the conditions were extremely cruel.

    They spoke English. The MauMaus who were detained in the 1950s were very young people who were either in school or those who had just finished primary and secondary school. That's why he talked of young men going to the forest. The earlier MauMau of the 1930s and 1940s were illiterate.
