Nice video!!! I too have a Rovan & Gas boats and have limited my use in fear of a runaway. The kill switches that are sold are not only expensive but they're overly complicated or just don't work unless you add even more battery power, which I do believe you said in this video. This is a simple but very effective way to kill that ignition power! Thanks again !

I don't really know how the RC devices work, but was the RC switch really necessary? Or could you have used DC+ (red), DC- (black), and IN (white) from the receiver straight to the relay?

Can you wire this to use a 3 way momentary switch on your remote? One side of the switch will crank your gas engine, then the other way kills it? If so, would you consider doing a video or posting intructions? I am trying to make a RC controled lawn mower and this would really help me out. I have bought a flysky i6x remote with the 10 channel receiver, and I have a mini on off on momentary toggle that I want to use for this. Thanks reguardless of your answer on the video. It has me closer to the end goal.

I have put together a remote control lawn mower and I need kill switch to turn off the lawn mower with my Futaba. Will this method work with lawn mower motor? Thanks

Did you find any upgradad switches, with transistor istead of relay and with rc input on same board?

Instead of jumping the wire from input volt line to receiver positive and negative, can I use the output voltage of the Universal BEC to power the kill switch? Because I'm using U-BEC now. Is it okay?

I'm using a Turnigy to turn on and off lights. The LED board can handle main when on 4S. I may do another switch to turn off the nav lights if it messes with my runcam night eagle. Yes I will be running at night and iNav plane. I also have the one from HK that has like I channels on one switch. Both are pass thru voltage. Can't wait to watch this video in detail for what else I can use this for. I use to think I had to use a relay and a taken apart servo. Better days.

I like this way because if that battery dies it kills the engine too. I’ve used the switches just like U are doing as well. Work well for leds. This really will handle 200v lol

@@jjrotogeek Oh Yes, I acquired a couple microwave relays. Question, for your system, would this work if used to close the actual electrical ignition. Pardon my ignorance on gas engine and now I'm thinking what safety there would be for nitro. The ground. Electromagnetic to open airflow when powered only.

I bought a dual rc relay. It has no com c terminal. I setup the C three position switch.first relay controll power to controller in 12 position with NO and COM. Middle position is off for both relays. Switch at 6 o'clock position and plan of cutting the ground wire for the enging put one half in com and the cut other pice in th NC terminal. The led come on but nothing. I tride the second solinoid with the the controler setup and will work, even the fail safe works. I want to turn on controller at 12 and to kill eniine at 6 o'clock with middle turning both off. Tride the second relay with a led to test this and not working. It did the first few time. If not have to go back to two relays and channels. Thank great video.

How can I switch batteries when one dies in a dual battery setup...rf relay or maybe w/ secondary receiver with aux ch on off switch...i know theres a whole debate on why not just use bigger battery...i think 2 batt with extra V's and mah's would weigh less and gain some distance in long range operation.

Hi great video! Will the 5v relay work with 2s lipo (~8v) or I should get the 12v relay instead?

The relay coil voltage (the part we see him hook up, DC+, DC-, IN) is 5V. He used the BEC off of his receiver. The part that it actually switched (NO, COM, NC) it says can be much higher voltage. So if you're going to power the relay directly off of the batteries somehow, then you'll want to add a resistor to reduce the power going to the coil. The 12V one may not trigger at only 8V. But if you have a 5-6V BEC or something like that on your device, then it'll work fine.

Do you need to have the switching component to make this run? Since you bypass the power to the servo power couldn't you just put the ch3 wires directly to relay?

Got a question and hopefully you can help. I am running a front and rear winch on my rc crawler truck and would like to use a 3 position switch on my tx to switch from front to rear by turning the power on/off. 1st position front winch on, center position both off (no power to either), 3rd position rear winch on. Is there a way to achieve this? They will be operated from a wireless key fob style remote. I just need to be able to choose which winch gets power when needed.

Hmmmmm yes. I’m not sure about the key fob bit tho. I would use remote Rc switches for power. RC TX Controlled Relay Switch PWM Receiver LED Control Spray Switch Remote Electronic AUX Channel On/Off www.amazon.com/dp/B07FJZ67QM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_UJ.2DbF8NTX1P however you would either have to use a programmable radio and utilize two channels and assign them to the toggle, or use a 3 point relay contractor for a single channel, which would be a bit complicated.

i set up my switch just as shown in the video, put it in a rampage xb, when switched to channel 3 relay clicks lights come on but the relay still grounds the engine out.does not switch off. When wires disconnected from relay in run position it opens the relay and closes when switched off or power is removed. I installed an inline magnet in the wires coming from the engine. I am using a 3pv futaba radio, not sure what to do. I ran wires directly to my mag thinking it might be a short in the wires double checked all connections and even tested the coil everything is in order not sure what to do next?
