JJ Redick - Sharpshooter 17/18 Part 2

JJ Redick is a 2x Adolph Rupp award winner and a former National college player of the year and he’s going into his 13th year in the NBA. Would it surprise you to know that last season, his first with the Philadelphia 76ers, he averaged a career high in points? 17.1 points per game is his career-best, on 46.0% from the field, 42.0% from three, and 90.4% from the line. For reference, Kevin Love averaged 17.6 points per game with a 45.8% FG, 41.5% 3 pointers, and 88.0% from the line while Khris Middleton notched 20.1 ppg on 46.6% from the field, 35.9% from 3, and 88.4% on free throws.
Watching JJ Redick shoot the basketball continues to be one of the best things in the NBA. By his own admission, he doesn’t work on things he’s never going to use (postups was the example he gave on his podcast) and that’s because he understands what makes him effective. He’s dangerous off the ball because he works relentlessly to get to his spots. His off the bounce game has become a little underrated because he’s so dangerous on the catch that it opens up a lot of opportunities, but ultimately, his bread is buttered because of his jump shot. His ability to be on balance regardless of which way the momentum is carrying his body amazes, his eyes are always locked on the target, his elbow rarely, if ever, flares out, and his follow through is picture perfect.

It’s like he’s floating when he shoots

More hangtime, more control. Especially when he shoots in front of the defender's face like every single time

Its insane how he only needs a short time window to get off his shot after catching the ball

The 76ers are crazy to not sign him for multiple years. He's got a few in him yet and they need them all.

You can always count that gather step. It would be a lot less fun if you do not count that gather step, but it would be more traditional.
