I thought that J. J. universe torpedoes were completely ineffective if the shields were up. Unless you had a future mining ship with future prime universe torpedoes, you had to take down the shields with phasers first, then hit the target with torps.

Considering the Miranda had those "mega phasers" and better torpedo coverage, while also having comparable internal volume, it was likely supposed to be a more cost efficient "connie" with more thought to combat. By the time the Miranda class was launched, the Connie's were getting old. So they probably built new spaceframes with known blueprints (hence why the Miranda's look so similar to the Connie's), but in a more compact and efficient design. This would allow the Connie's to be retired and still have a cost efficient, updated and new design to keep the role the connie's had filled.

I feel like the Miranda was classed wrong. It seems to be the more combat focused cousin of the Connie. The Connie being designed to be more of an explorer and flagship.

that is true but the connie is also tankier than the miranda as the Miranda is more of a glass cannon while the connie SHOULD have stronger shields

@@EdricLysharae when it was brand new it was I think a fast cruiser cause well it was around the size of the Connie and well there’s a reason why khan chose to basically broadside Kirk. That was the ONLY opening he would of had for a wounding shot since if the enterprise already raised her shields the damage would have been minimal and the fight would have ended there

The Miranda was classified as a light cruiser/ multi role cruiser, but the Reliant was an "assault" variant, fitted with better phasers and a torpedo pod.

😲yes Captain.. Crikey.. the phaser sounds are incredible.. wow.. I do like the ships style too.. loved the video and didn't know the JJ ships were refitted. hmm. ok.. I would say this was in a way equally matched.. but yes the Enterprise was tough and the Reliant always like them, had more to dish out.. good thing no Genesis device on board lol.. loved this Captain..!!!😊🖖

The Constitution refit was just the same as the original just with a new body and more power it didn't hit harder or anything else, you proved that with you battled the 1701 VS 1701A, now if you took the 1701A and fought the reliant even in the Kalvin timeline I believe the Enterprise would will win easier.

You had your phasers set to tickle. Hence the low yield. Try setting them to something a wee bit higher next time. 😉

You need to do it again using conni torpedoes you where too dependent on phasers like it was normal timeline, but great battle it's hard to pick a dominant ship

I really didn't like the sound effects of the phasers. Also seemed like the Miranda is a bit overpowered. Love the videos!

For being JJ, these both look closer to prime than Kelvin which I like. I don’t hate Kelvin styling but much prefer prime

No wonder Miranda-class was used for so long in Starfleet (Prime and Kelvin-timeline). Only Dominion-war put them out of service.

Even the Dominion War still wasn't enough to put the old design down.

The Designer made sure that the Kelvin Miranda was at least twice as long as the TMP version, right? 😁

Now since the Kalvin universe ships have been updated and they are starting to look more like the Prime universe motion picture movie Enterprise Refit model I'm actually liking that design of both ships. I believe they both need to have a lot of work still with weapons and power systems and overall everything but they are starting to look the proper way again. Brovo Zulu.

Tbh if the JJ-prise has looked like this instead of that weird thing we got, I would have enjoyed the movies more. As always the fans have some of the best designs.

I actually like this version of the Enterprise compared to what we got on screen. Too bad we didn't get this on screen. It looks way better than what we got. I even don't mind the look of the Reliant.

There's a reason why the Miranda class was still in use up to and through the Dominion war. Also, there's a reason why we saw no Constitution classes in the Dominion war.

Hahaha hahaha... in the first fight, you should have used the prefix code... I looked it up after your last post... I think it was 16039 😄. I might be wrong. In the Kelvin time-line, who knows. But the Connie did have aft torpedoes... there was no evidence in TOS that it did. The Miranda was much like the Nebula class of TNG... a compact version of the Enterprise, but not built for war.

I personally think the marinda is a much better weapons platform . Marinda is slower than the Constitution . Marinda is much better layout .

Relient was more powerful and faster turning....

Conie isnt a better ship for battle than the marianda. Connie Supasses only in Exploration. Maranda is bigger actually (some one did an internal vol calc and due to the square flanks M is very big), whilest being slimmer. We can imagine that the warp charteristics of the Connie are the peek natural places to put center of mass and warp nacels. The D7 is a simlar ship in this regard just upside down. Andrew Proberts ships are also on point. How ever many other ships are in my mind non cannon, or I just have to not care. I wish The DS9 defiant was slightly diffrent and in my opinoun lowering the warp nacles actually improves the look.

That is a good question, I've seen it affect ships differently, though it never fully neutralizes or destroys like blowing up the Warp.Core or sensors.

These look nothing like what was seen in the JJ films.

There is one small detail people forget about in the wrath of Khan, Khan had a extreme advantage in that battle and used it to great effect. " Command Override Codes". With just a simple transmission he disabled the Enterprises Shielding at the point blank range and then proceeded to rip up engineering with his very first volley. So it was tactical before it even started. There is a old saying that comes to mind......" It's not about greater power but it's about how you use the you have". Granted through upgrading of power systems on the reliant over the years it has gotten better. Never over estimate yourself or underestimate your opponent.

Khan didn't disable the Enterprise shields with a transmission. Kirk didn't raise the shields as Khan approached because he was in a friendly vessel. Kirk tried to raise the shields after Khan locked his phasers on Enterprise, but by then, it was too late. The first shots tore into the engine room, disabling Enterprise's main power. Sulu tried raising the shields, but there was no power. The override codes were the prefix code that Kirk used to lower Reliant's shields so they could return fire
