Tatiana writes great lyrics (she was a literature major until she decided to professional sing) and is one of the best front women in the business. Jinjer has so many many good songs and performances to react to. I recommend either "I speak Astronomy" (OMV) or "Teacher, Teacher" (OMV) for a follow up reaction. Good review (Subbed)

If you haven't heard this from other people already, you will...The lyrics to virtually all Jinjer songs is very poetic, that's how Tati writes. And I'll toss in some additional info on how Jinjer "makes" their music and songs because I find it very unorthodox and extremely fascinating. The instrumental musicians, Vlad, Roman, Eugene will compose the music and cut a "demo" of all the tracks that will be on an album and send it to Tati. At that point, Tati will start putting lyrics to the music. After the lyrics are completed, they'll get together and work on portions of the music or lyrics that need to be changed based on their collaborative trials and discussions. As for whether Tati will use extreme or clean vocals, that's usually just something Tati "feels," but she does get and take suggestions from the musicians as well as their long time producer. It almost seems a little backward or disjointed as often times a songwriter will compose a song and then put music around the lyrics, or perhaps they'll all work together at the same time putting music and lyrics together simultaneously. I believe the method Jinjer uses greatly contributes to their unique sound, and there's no doubt that Tati's range and vocal flexibility allows the musicians to compose and play music other bands just cannot even attempt.

Great comment, very informative. I thought "At that point, Tati will start putting lyrics to the music" was interesting - from what Tatiana has said, when she gets the music that's when the really serious procrastination begins! She has to drag the lyrics out of herself as deadlines arrive and pass. I'm sure you know "Wallflower", part of that is about her struggle with creativity and her reluctance to let the deeply felt, personal lyrics out. She's a marvel both lyrically and vocally but it costs her dearly.

@@tribaltalker1608 Most definitely! I've watched just about every interview I can find. When I first saw the Wallflower video, I immediately saw the sand art she was making as lyrics! Tati is so open about her feelings, and it shows in her lyrics and often in the videos.

"Perennial" is a metaphorical song about the description of "Death and Rebirth" from the perspective of "Mother Nature", about the seasonal change from Autumn to Spring, using Perennial Plants as the metaphor. Perennial Plants wilt and retreat into themselves during winter, and then rise and bloom again in spring and summer. Tati suffers from Seasonal Depression, which clinically can be termed as "Seasonal Affective Disorder" (SAD). When the seasons changes to fall and nature starts dying, she feels like she is dying from within as well. In the spring when nature comes back to life, she too feels like she has been reborn again like rising from the ashes like a Phoenix just like a Perennial Plant blooming again in spring. There is definitely strong dichotomy in this song, but I would say that it differs from Pisces in that while Pisces is about the Duality of Good and Evil within oneself, Perennial is more about the Never-ending, Inevitable Cycle of Life and Death. I love Perennial! Always love Jinjer! This one, like every Jinjer song for many reasons, hits me in the feels. It's about Tatiana's Seasonal Affective Disorder aka seasonal depression, but Tatiana's approach to lyrics is very poetic and thought provoking, and for me, helpful for getting through some sadness, anger and tough times. This performance, like every one I've seen by Jinjer, is awesome! I think they're all testament to their creativity in composing (all four of them to varying degrees on different songs), their hard work practicing to be so tight as a band, and also their sound engineer who does a great job with the mix so each of them is heard well. Just a note on this particular show: Perennial was the last song of the set and for the songs before this one, they had some issues with the sound that made recordings of those earlier songs sound not quite as good as this one (though still awesome performances, I'd say). Thank you, Kelly, for your reaction and for bringing more of the fantastic music of Jinjer to more people! ❤️ 🖤 🤘

Music is aso therapy, Jinjer is a band who really speaks to me. Tatiana could have found success in any type of music she wanted to pursue she has one of the best jazz voices, and many of Jinjer's songs have a jazz foundation. Check out the Jinjer song " Begger's Dance" and "just another."

So true. "Beggar's Dance" and "King of Everything" on the album also named "King of Everything" are the tracks I play to people who can't take extreme vocals. Both beautiful, jazzy fun.

She is a featured guest vocalist on a song from an actual, real death metal band. The band is Decapitated, and the song is "Hello, Death". It is very, very, extremely different from Jinjer, and as soon as you hear ten seconds of it you immediately know, okay this is way different. You probably won't like it, but it's worth hearing if for nothing else than to know the difference between death metal and metalcore.

Kelly, any of the suggested songs below would be a great "next song" by Jinjer...If and when you get around to "Vortex," I highly recommend you watch the LIVE version from Bloodstock 2021, that's when they introduced the song and it's excellent! The Official Music Video is very good, but it's too easy to get caught up in the video itself rather than the music.

If you're still not into the growls 100% yet, try their 'Bad Water' omv. All clean singing.
