Yes, our girl Tatiana can blow minds. I'm nobody, just a 60 year-old metal fan, and I've heard a lot of singers do the death growl - but few can approach her ability, and yet she can compete with the best clean singers, softly, and then belt like there's no tomorrow.

I’m a 61 y/o metal fan from New Jersey and I totally agree. This band, front to back, is unmatched in musical talent, vocals, persona. Their stage presence is insanely off the charts. A term I like to refer to Tatiana as is being a “Supreme Storyteller”. She is like no other I’ve ever seen. So fortunate to have discovered their music last Oct - yes late to the game but that’s ok. Saw them twice in Pa last Nov (Harrisburg and Philly)!

Our girl? Where were the western fans when Jinjer were running from the war in 2014 with their close ones lef behind, performing every night with fear in their hearts for them for 50 to 100 people drinking and smoking with us in clubs and bars across Romania and Bulgaria? its OUR girl, you are so consumed from your own bands that you discover bands only if they go to western Europe, but before that - few years of strugle and friendship, support when they need that the most you westerners are asleep for them.

The next step in going down the Jinjer rabbit hole is "Perennial" Live at Waken. Followed by "Teacher, Teacher". I went down this rabbit hole and refuse to come back out. Not only is Tatiana the best Metal vocalist but they are one of the most talented bands around right now. Enjoy

Her name is Tatiana Smailyuk. Yes, they are from Ukraine, Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. Mostly self taught, she isn't going to hurt the vocal chords because she's using the false vocal folds for the harsh vocals. And she can do it live as well. Try Perennial live at Wacken 2019 to see that. This live session was done to showcase their new ,at the time, drummer Vlad. He , Roman on guitar ,and Eugene on bass are all great musicians. They are touring again, as the guys were recently allowed to leave Kiev. She is definitely not the only female that does harsh vocals. A few of the top of my head are former vocalist Angela Gossow and current vocalist Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy, and Courtney from Spiritbox.

Tatiana is a singularity. She's an absolute vocal beast. I know you're coming at this from a vocal POV, but the band is on another level too. Jinjer are already recognized as one of the top metal bands. The musicianship is top-notch ...even their drummer is a classically trained pianist ... the guys write all the music and hand it off to vocalist Tatiana who writes all the music at the preferred last minute. She admits that she does not warm-up prior to performances. They can get heavy but if you start with Perennial (Live at Wacken) or "I Speak Astronomy", you will be sure to hear both sounds of Tatiana ... the angel and the demon. Fun reaction!

Btw Jinjer writes music first then Tatianna writes lyrics around it and sometimes other band members help with lyrics as well. The band often writes crazy time signatures(odd meters) and it sometimes throughs Tati off when writing lyrics but they tell her: what?! Just count! 😆

There are a few woman that can growl/scream. Most also have nice clean voices as well. Tatiana is one. Alissa White Gluz is Canadian and in a Swedish band called Arch Enemy. They normally do all harsh vocals but are adding cleans. "Handshake with Hell" is new and includes both. There are Sopranos like Floor Jansen of Nightwish and Simone Simons of Epica. Floor Jansen can transition between Operetic and growling easily. She does an amazing classical/comtemporary blend in a song called Ghost Love Score which she did in 2013 at the Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken Germany.

Tati is one of the few vocalists i know of who can so seamlessly blend false fold screaming (for most of the song) and fry screaming (the last "away" of the song) Normally people are good at either one or the other, its fairly rare to be good with both. Also, they are both unpitched and can often sound quite different even when coming from the same person. Also also, they often have quite different volumes. So to make them sound similar, yet distinct, but also not be too quiet or too loud, is absurdly difficult.

Arch Enemy, Nemesis live in Tokyo for Angela Grossow (retired) for an insane growl, and A E's Handshake with Hell -for their latest singer Alyssa, who fry screams and sings clean as well. For men, check out Amon Amarth. You can hear every word he sings.

As a Jinjer fan, I have been watching these reaction videos since the Live Session of Pisces was released. I am just now realizing I am so addicted to watching these because it gives me the same feeling as I did the first time I witnessed this song. I cry at the end everytime. Every. Time. I don't know why. It just seems to hit the right vibration within me I guess.

Welcome to Jinjer. Tatiana is one of the best frontwomen in the business and the band's musicianship is second to none. They shine in their live performances. I recommend "Perennial" live at Wacken, "Captain Clock" live at Resurrection Fest or my favourite "Who is Gonna be the One" (Live, Napalm Records). Make sure you have the lyrics, Tatiana is a great lyricist.

Glad you enjoyed Jinger, if you want to hear other female singers growling got to go with one of the originals arch enemy. One of their newer tracks “handshake with hell” for the first time ever has her using clean vocals and growls. It’s quite good. The other band is Nightwish “yours is an empty hope” Floor Jenson is and absolute beast, fans of hers and Nightwish have just come to the conclusion there is nothing she can not sing, sometimes better than the originals. Check them both out, your in for a treat 😁

FYI Tatiana self learned this style on her own and perfected it over time in different bands in the Ukrain. She began singing at 8 years of age. When she was picked up by Jinjer later on. She is a very peaceful and amazing artist and singer. but also has to be said is the band themselves are true performers. To her a sample of her low range watch "Who will be the one live"

I’m 52 years old and have been a music junkie all my life and although I have favourite vocalists who sit well in their genre, my 3 favourite vocalists of all time because they can do so much more are Serj from System of a Down, Corey from Slipknot/ Stone Sour and Tatiana from Jinjer. But the key point is it’s not just how good they are, it’s how good the bands are that write and play the music that allows the vocalists to add the cherry on the top 👌👌👌
