When I was reading the book I never took the historical names as being associated with the actual people and cultures. Like I knew the names already, obviously, but never imagined the costumes.

There are so many better and much better actresses, much more appropriate for this character, and you chose her. Cheng Xin in the book, or Cheng Jin in the series, is a typical reverend-stylish mother, whose emotion suppresses the rationality. That is why her “opponent” is “Logic”, which is Luoji in the book. Except this lethal personality, Cheng is perfect. And this is why Yuntianming, whose brain has been sent into cosmos, loves her so much, even bought her a star. When I watch this series, it took a long time to convince myself that this female is Chengxin in the book. Wholeheartedly, I donot recognize this character.

Agree. Very American of her, nothing assembling the female lead in the book. But with this casting, we can see a glimpse of where this heading, oh no

Thanks for telling me. For me just a reference, very westernise. And from this scene alone, I won’t surprise if Asian market don’t like her. Finger crossed, I do love the book
The dialogue is so much dumber compared to the book.
