I was somehow at Jimmy Swaggart revival, and as he was going through his ranting and raving, I was getting more and more agitated. And finally, when I couldn't take it anymore, I jumped up and yelled "OH SHUT UP!" And right after saying that, I woke up.

Where is your your trophy for living without committing any sin. I take it you are not a Christian. Because real Christians show Mercy one toward another. The Bible says when you wont forgive someone God wont forgive you either. Jimmy never owed anyone an apology only to God. Took a real man to stand up and tell the world He was sorry. Privately? It was on every news station in the nation. I think the private option was off the table by this point. Here’s the deal, none of us our perfect, and I’d be careful to be critical of folks that have fell. Scripture says the same amount of grace you show will be shown to you. Who knows, you might need that same forgiveness one day.

True. However, many who turn their life around only do so AFTER a great fall. It is then that the embarrassment of what is brought to light causes them to see life through a different lens. There are former hardened criminals who spend the latter part of their lives doing nothing but good because of a changed heart that only occurred in them after they were caught and/or paid suffered the consequences of their wrong-doing.

Jimmy Swaggart is a covert narcissist. He displays a holy, self-righteous image to his television audience/congregation, but satisfies his deviant urges when *he thinks* nobody is looking. Six months later, he was caught with a prostitute in Indio, California.

I worked at a resort he recorded several episodes from in the 80's. One of his crew made a mistake and he stood in the lobby screaming at the top of his lungs, red faced, and cussing up a storm. Definitely not Christian behavior.

Obviously people think just because your a Christian you don't sin. If you think that then you need to reevaluate yourself. Being a Christian is a battle against sin. The difference between a Christian is knowing you sin, repent, believe Jesus died for your sins, know you are forgiven, know you can not defeat sin using your own strength. And then he got caught again. Repentance means you "go your way and sin no more." If "I'm sorry" is just the noise you make before you do it again, it doesn't mean much.

As I remember, and some of you may have a better remembrance, it was less than three weeks later that he did the same thing. That alone tells you his repentance was not sincere. Any man or woman professing to preach the Gospel can, and should be, held to a much higher standard. They should hold themselves to that standard.

Right, God forgive sin, not man. I rather fall in the hands of God than man. Judgement is God. Thank God,!!!!

At least he stood up and publicly admitted what he did wrong. Most people would not do that. I've known plenty of people that cheated on their spouse. I haven't seen any of them go on national television, own up to what they did and ask for forgiveness. I think he did the right thing. Preachers are human beings like anyone else. They are just as susceptible to temptation as any other man. We all sin, and we can all repent and be forgiven.

You judged Jimmy wrong. Jimmy didnt have to come on youtube and repent before everybody. He only had to repent before God. What if God revealed all your sins before everybody how would you feel. @Regina Freeman We are not to judge and chastise people thou they are sinners. Instead, we are to spread love Luke 6:27-36. Of course, we are to know who are sinners and tell them to repent and share the good news but to judge them to the point of hate is wrong. That's what I meant.

During the debate between Deedat and Swaggart, the latter laughed at the former on the topic of Muslim men being allowed to have 4 wives. He said that Christians just had one shot, so they had to make sure they picked right. And ironically, a few weeks after that he was caught with a prostitute, and that wasn't even the last time it happened. Maybe Christians should think twice before disparaging something that seems foreign to them

Exactly. God will forgive many people including prodigal sons and will then use them to carry out God's work. King David orchestrated the slaying of Uriah and sinned with Bathsheba but God forgave him --God transformed the evil Saul into the great disciple Paul. So He certainly could forgive Jimmy who now has a great ministry that has led many people to salvation.
