@@KyleEvra No, I'd say in the movie he was more of a timid child. He also displayed more realistic child-like behavioral traits. Whereas in the series a lot of Jimmy's personality traits seem to be exaggerated, more one dimensional, and he seems to be more of an overconfident know-it-all. That level of childish realism was kind of stripped out of the series. I don't know if the writers did that intentionally or not.

Similar to what Luis mentions, there's times that some if not most cartoons will break the 4th wall, sometimes more then once. Take chowder for instance, I think that show barely went an episode without breaking the 4th wall.

In the pilot, they wouldn't let Jimmy play with rockets because he launched Carl off the roof. In the movie, Jimmy couldn't go to Retroland because it was a school night, and he also played with rockets. In both situations, Jimmy wasn't able to have fun and experiment. But at the end of the day, even Boy Geniuses need a reality check.
