Jimmy Nelson graciously agreed to be a character in my mystery novel set in 1947 Chicago (The Dummy Case) , where he and Danny O'Day perform in a theater that was the scene of an unsolved murder of a ventriloquist/magician. I included Jimmy's biography as an appendix along with one for Frank Marshall (both from Chicago). Thanks again, Jimmy. You are indeed a gentleman.

Mr. Nelson seems like such a sweet, genuine person. I was so honored to meet him at the 2008 ConVENTion and even got to stand by him in the group shot! Hes a living legend!

No..Jimmy Nelson is no longer with us.

Jimmy Nelson is indeed the Dean of Ventriloquism. So many ventriloquists over the last 50-60 years have been inspired by Jimmy. In addition to his many TV appearances. Jimmy recorded two 33 1/3 record albums (now available on CCD and digital) that taught us how to be a ventriloquist. Hobby-sized Danny O'Days and Farfels were available in catalogs and toy stores nationwide. Many contemporary (and a few quite famous) ventriloquists credit Jimmy for their start.

Jimmy also recorded two storytelling LP's..where he and his puppets told the tales of"Peter & The Wolf" and"Pinocchio" and he did a comedy LP.
