Jimmy Means' 1975 Chevy C60: Old School NASCAR Hauler Stuck In Time! (The Owner-Driver Era)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Jimmy Means was a regular in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series from the late 1970s until the early 90s. A casual fan may only be familiar with his name since he was one of the independent owner-driver gladiators of the era along with guys like Dave Marcis and JD McDuffie. Jimmy purchased this Chevrolet C60 box truck from Bob Rahilly of RahMoc Racing in the late 70s and used it for his Broadway Motors sponsored race team until 1984ish. He sold the truck to someone out in California who somehow BARELY used it and Jimmy purchased it back in 2020 in near the same condition. Now it is parked back in its original spot at Jimmy Means Racing original race shop! If you want to see more of Jimmy you can check out the Full Shop Tour video and the Cheating Stories video on the channel!

What are the odds he was able to find the truck he sold almost 40 years ago and buy it back?? In the near exact same condition no less. I really hope he is able to get something together to use it for Darlington. You can find the hoodie and hat I am wearing on stapletonautoworks.com

@@Stapleton42 Oh no man, so sorry, I by no means meant it like it sounded lol. Probably should have worded that better. I’m a big fan of your channel and have followed for quite a while. You have busted your ass to get to where you are, and it shows! The proof is in the pudding! My apologies on that wording lol. Another outstanding job of getting a casual one on one conversation with a true NASCAR legend. I love the non- scripted walk around format. The fact that he wants to use his old hauler to race again shows the no- nonsense kind of guy Jimmy is. I just turned 55, this Era of racing is what I remember as a kid. Happy holidays from northern California.

Mr. Means is one of the greatest I have ever heard stories of back when I got into racing in the early 90s. Some of his little tricks like the intake pieces that I think he called sliders. The adjustments that would happen on track at the super speedway such as the hydraulic rear spoiler lol. This video brings back some awesome memories. At 36 years old and having some sponsor help for my sprint car racing I would love to help him get the truck together and take a car to race Darlington in 2023

I can remember when Hershel McGriff (2023 NASCAR HOF Inductee) used to haul his race cars around the PNW in a converted Crown School Bus!

New or old I've always found the transport trucks fascinating. If only the old ones could talk. Can you imagine the stories? 😆

I still remember going from Michigan to Indiana to my grandparents. Sleeping in the back window of my moms car. I can't remember the type of car, though. Lol

My hubby won all but 2 races for 2yrs. By not cheating, but maximizing every part on the car ! Did not have a lot of money but used his brains to study the parts and make them work as intended for drag racing !

Another incredible video, yes l hope someone will come forward with help to get this rig to Darlington! What a blast! Thanks for sharing 👍🏻, just loving ❤️ this, the oil 🤔, two cases and only one can missing! Racing and hotrod are like that! Cars just sitting in storage, like "midnight" and Lake Speed sr. His nascar must be close to firing, blows the mind! ✌🏻🧡❄️🇨🇦☃️😉👋.
