One thing about Italian families is everybody bust each others ball and nobody takes it personal. It’s how us Italians show our love for each other. At any Italian family gathering, it’s nonstop laughter. Laughter is key to a happy life.

Oh my gosh. I'm gonna tell you right now. Uncle Frank & Aunt Chippy are like my own relatives and I only know them from TV. I cried like a baby when Uncle Frank died and when Aunt Chippy's number gets called, I will mourn as I did when my own Aunt Doris died. Love this family SO MUCH!!

Same. Jimmy is so good at his job as a presenter, but he also never bottled things up so much that he came across as detached or fake or enigmatic like so many other tv personalities do. Where family is concerned, he has always been so sincere. His tribute to Uncle Frank was beautiful, and he made as all feel like part of the family. I cried so much as well... and again years later when I watched it a second time. It was so affecting because Jimmy communicated Frank's passing not as the loss of someone on the show but as the loss of a real person. Jimmy's relatives (Chippy, Frank, Sal, Micki, and others) weren't people he turned into characters for a show; they were characters in real life, so Jimmy let them be themselves and through the magic of tv and the internet they came into our homes and visited just like family would. They're our "Aunt" Chippy, "Uncle" Frank, and assorted "Cousins," and I'd fight anyone who says Micki isn't the nicest person in the world. Because don't talk bad my family!

What a profound statement from "our" collective beloved Aunt Chippy., who is always such a good sport "things are just things, but people last; they last through generations".

Friend of mine is from Iscia and very proud to call Jimmy Kimmel‘s his distant cousin. He has a lot of distant cousins there. We get good laughs out of this.

Aunt chippy makes me laugh as no comedian has ever done. She is the best. I love her.

Love this. My older sisters were adopted from Korea to my Irish mom who grew up with Italians. The sense of humor in our family has been passed around forever. My nephews are hilarious. As their auntie, I’m proud of that. I taught them well 😉❤ Nature/Nurture? Comedy overrides.

Haha, this reminds me of me. I always told my sisters that I would teach their children all the bad things. The ugly face pulling, impressions of certain family members, drinking, smoking, swearing, how to save a buck. I'm pleased to say that they were good students and quick learners. 😀

This is pure gold! Whoever came up with this format of showing these two simultaneously is a genius! Ancestry’s KZread channel, and online platforms in general, has so much untapped potential for great marketing programming that can connect the past in ways that’s still relevant and culturally relatable to the times. I wish I could pitch ideas to the head of their Marketing Strategy Director to bounce some ideas and partner with them. But, good work guys!

I wholeheartedly agree that Italians are wonderful people. My big Sister had a few Italian guy friends & they knew how important it was for us to open our front door wide & welcome any passing people inside for respite during Passover Seder. Every year, two of her Italian guy friends would ask what time dinner would be served (between our Passover prayers), & every year they would show up, join us for dinner, clear their plates, wish us a Happy Pesach, & leave us to finish our prayers. And every year, my big Sister would join them for Midnight Mass at the Catholic Church two streets over from our house, & The Feast of San Gennaro. Now that is what I call FAMILIA!

I spent many a covid night watching this program and have so much respect for Dr Gates and the wonderful people at PBS. Thank you for helping all if us get through a terrible time. Happy Holidays to all!

I love this channel ! So incredibly interesting! My great grandmother hired someone to trace our roots all the way back to the 1500s !! I have the full family tree with dates and all. It is so exciting to learn about your heritage. Jimmy is truly a genius in having the gift to talk and really listen and hear others. And Aunt Chippy is the Sonny of Jimmy’s Cher. Cher was the star but Sonny kept her grounded. Thank God for Aunt Chippy ! ☺️🙏🏻
