I first heard this song just weeks after I turned 24 years old, and it's amazing how the lyrics hit me right in the feels. I'm now a month from turning 32 and I'm happy to say that I'm FINALLY marrying the woman of my dreams in March 2017!

About 10 years ago, I was not in a very good place. Long story short: it was not a very good time for me to get into a relationship. But I met someone. Even though I knew within days of meeting him that he was the person I should be with, I thought I should push him away because it was such crappy timing. Then I sat and really, truly listened to this song, and these lyrics just struck me: "You'll sit alone forever if you wait for the right time / What are you hoping for? / I'm here and now I'm ready, holding on tight." What was I hoping for, indeed? I was hoping for him. I had always been hoping for him, even before I met him. 10 years later, we are very happily married with two beautiful kids. There are so many JEW songs that have resonated with me over the years, but none of them mean as much to me as this one.

I totally hear everything you've said about this song. Ten years ago, I also wasn't in a good place and I basically had this song on repeat (I was only 20/21 at the time, so I wasn't even 23 yet), but it gave me the motivation I needed to get up every day, to shower, to do what I had to do, and then to try again the next day. Eventually, I climbed out and got away, but this song made a lot of that possible. It's funny how music can do that to someone, but it can. It really can.

This song... breaks me every time I hear it. Incredibly cathartic.

I will always have this song in my top 10 songs ever. Listening in 2016 whoop!

They played this tonight in Atlantic City... they totally blew minds. People were shouting 23 between every song then after a short pause... it began.

How the hell did they manage to create such an awesome song?? HOW?! Best song ever. EVER.

I remember listening to this when I was 16 or 17. The lyrics were pretty meaningful for me at that time of my life. I still think they're pretty awesome to this day. It also made me think "damn, It'll be a long time until I'm 23. Wonder what it'll be like". welp, I'm 26 now. Crazy how fast time goes. It's strange actually. Since i turned 23, time just seemed to hit fast forward.

The different riff was awesome! If I could get a band to do a cover of this song, I would play the alternate riff at the end like they did here.

I never did put that band together, unfortunately.

I first heard this song in the early hours of my 23rd birthday. That was almost a month ago, and I can't stop listening to 23.

This song is so emotional, it effects me so much and I dont know why, I seem to be listening to it a lot recently and each time it blows me away. Truly one of the greatest songs to be released in the last decade.

The most emotion put into a song live i've ever seen. I caught these at Leeds Fest, Donnington Download, Give it a name and the Academy and everytime it's blown me away. Jimmy Eat World have to be the most underated band EVER. Sublime

I love the way he shows so much passion in his voice, many singers lose that playing live everytime iv seen them live he blows me away just with the fact he cares so much and as if hes playing it for you individually at the show

I was 23 the first time I listened this song, from that moment it has been THE song of my life. I'll be 36 this year.
