It is very straight forward. There are two source of information; one is people talking about themselves, and the second one is research that collects information from a population of people. I came across a lady who worked in a hospital and was asked by the hospital to interview people who had this experience. There was no religious connection to it; just the hospital wanting to know what was going on. one famous story coming out of this was a person who was blind from birth, who was able to see when they died. They actually floated outside of the building, several stories above the ground, and saw a pair of red shoes on a roof, in a position that could not be see from inside or outside of the building. One doctor stepped through the window and crawled along a path until they reached a point where they could see the red shoes. On a follow up research project, also coming from a hospital; a doctor was saying that the drugs given at end of life to resuscitate or control the patient; also have the effect of wiping out people's memory. He personally believed in the possibility of every patient having a NDE but not being able to remember because of the usual drugs administered.

It seems quite logical to me that a person whos heart stops would experience dreams and such. They are unconscious, but their brain is still alive. If your brain is alive and feels something with your eyes closed, then your brain could very well fill in the gaps and add images or tie them to images that you captured during moments of consciousness. I dont think that they are NOT afterlife experiences, but it just seems like a very reasonable natural explanation. That story people are sharing about a blind person and red shoes on a roof however is veeery interesting.

From the research I've done, there does seem to be something to NDEs, OBEs, etc. But what exactly, I'm not as sure as I'd prefer to be. I do find such experiences to be somewhat intriguing, fascinating. It does seem they can be evidence for the soul and afterlife, but for me there are some things about them that trouble me and make me somewhat hesitant to accept them as evidence of the soul and afterlife. "Veridical perception" does seem to suggest that those that experience such a phenomena are actually outside of their physical bodies, etc. during a so called OBE. I'm planning on learning more about NDEs and the like. I have some books about them already and have some books I'm considering getting about the subject matter in the future, including the one Jimmy mentioned: "The Self Does Not Die".

Not that this is totally relevant, but there is something interesting where in the field of fitness and even nutrition the paradigm of 'i only follow peer reviewed studies' doesn't really work. Like it's so impossibly hard to do these studies in an adequate way to control for the countless variables and the study sizes are also so small as to not be useful basically at all. The best most robust source of information in these fields comes from a mixture of scientific studies but also from practitioners in the field who can use experience with themselves and many clients to get a pretty solid broad picture idea of things that work and don't work. If we had to stick to this strict standard of scientific research we would have to pretend we knew very little when in reality we know alot from experiential data. An antidote isn't data but a wide collection of antidotes are.

There are some really good channels going into the science of health and fitness, specifically related to strength training, hypertrophy, etc. Check out Jeff Nippard and Mike Isratel (of Renaissance Periodization) to start. The science is pretty clear. 1 lb of body fat = 3500 cal. 500 cal deficit per day = 1 lb body fat lost per week. Doing sets to failure twice per week per muscle group will result in muscle growth. I frequently see birds flapping their wings, and I’m almost always below them. But to catch a surgeon doing it I need to levitate? I mean it’s interesting if a nearly dead, presumably unconscious patient could somehow be aware of the Dr’s strange motions, and this begs investigation. To claim this information was gathered while floating out of body on the ceiling doesn’t add credibility to the story, but rather, makes the whole thing less believable.

I don't get how can it be less believable when so many people report seing themselves from that perspective, why would that be the case? It seems to me the only reason you think they didn't actually leave their body is because on your materialist worldview you think it's impossible. @@jamesjohnson-en3cu I get your objections, we have fundamentally different worldviews, I can't prove anything to you. But maybe I can explain my perspective. Can you feel your physical body while you're dreaming? In most cases you can't, you feel your dream body, which means your consciousness shifted from your physical body to your dream body, which has eyes (obviously different than the eyes as we know it). So yes I think you actually leave your body when you're dreaming, and access different dream worlds. And by "you" I mean you are not your body but a consciousness (soul) that inhabits it. Your physical eyes only detect electromagnetic waves and turn them into electrical signals, which are then interpreted by the brain and create a picture, but for who? The brain only interprets the data, atoms in the brain can't experience anything, the one who experiences the picture is "you", the soul. I get that you probably think that consciousness is an emergent property of the brain and you base everything on that, we don't agree and this can become a really long discussion that I'm not sure I have time for.

This is blasphemy. When you take your own word and spread it as biblical truth, you are putting yourself in God‘s place. You are essentially saying that you are on par or above God, which is the same thing that Lucifer did. I will show a few examples of What the Bible says about the state of the dead. In Ecclesiastes we read “The dead know not anything” (Ecclesiastes 9:5). Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God Who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7). And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt (Daniel 12:2). And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose (Matthew 27:52). Please notice how the Holy Spirit says that the “bodies” slept. Jesus said: Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep . . . Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead (John 11:11, 14)
