    I was so sick of him winning for so many years but Jimmie is really a good guy. Hope he gets a win in Indycar, would be amazing to win the 500 . Share something with Jimmie too, i have the same issue with motion sickness but also only as a passenger, no issues when driving... It sucks sometimes but it's also nice to not be passenger with the wife driving 😂

    man i wasnt... i was a JJ fan from day one, my brother looked at me when he spun out and saved it in the daytona 500 in 02 ... he said that guy will be great! man was he ever right! i went through some of the deepest depths of depression through the years and seeing that 48 win gave me such a pleasant comfort. i was pretty bummed out when Stewart ended JJ's reign but so happy he made it to 7 championships. sadly my dvr ended the recording for before the final crash when he won his 7th... i felt so robbed of a special moment... we cancelled dish network after that. glad i can watch it online... but it wasnt the same as that in the moment ecstatic feeling... when you didnt know what would happen. it was tough seeing their team fall apart after that. how close JJ got to so many more wins... but something always happened. Now who knows if we will ever see him win again... honestly i dont care because im pretty nervous about him running in the indy cars hope above everything else he stays safe. its funny because like you and JJ i get that motion sickness when i am not driving in the car. i have to drive lol.

Led a few laps, but unfortunately IndyCars can snap around *click* like that, but he was fast during the entire month of May. Honestly, he's better on the ovals because of his 83 Cup wins, he only won once on a road-course (Sonoma 2010), and he finished 6th at Texas Motor Speedway. Main reason he won was because Marcos Ambrose shut the car off to save fuel and couldn't get it restarted so he inherited the lead. He's won four times on Memorial Day Weekend by taking the Coca-Cola 600 in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2014.

    @@CalebHemphill24 Yeah, ok. F1 is the most boring, uneventful form of racing in the world. They are so technologically advanced that the driver is almost a non-factor. Very few passes and the same manufacturers and drivers win 90% of the races and championships. To be the best driver in the world, one would have to be successful in multiple forms of racing and only one out of twelve F1 drivers were remotely successful in NASCAR and that was JPM with two road course wins. The rest couldn't handle it at all. Let's see how the great Kimi Raikkonen does in a Cup car at Watkins Glen in August. He did pretty well in his first (and only) truck series and Xfinity Series races and could have a good result in Cup with Trackhouse Racing. The learning curve would be as steep for him on ovals in Cup as it was for Jimmie on road courses in IndyCar. In short, F1 sucks.

    Where would you put Richard Petty or Dale Earnhardt as they have to be G.O.A.T as well?

  • @Littlejohn48

    @Littlejohn48

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@michaelhogg324 I was a huge Eaenhardt fan until he tragically passed in 2001. I quit watching in 2001 (the only races I have ever missed save for a few while I was on vacation, at work, etc.), but missed the sport. I decided to start watching again in 2002, but ai needed a new driver. I didn't want to pull for Jr. just because that was his son, Harvick just because he took over his car, or jump on another driver's bandwagon (not saying those that did were wrong), so I decided to just pick my favorite rookie. There were only two (Newman and Johnson) and I wasn't pulling for a Dodge driver and dad had always been a HMS guy (specifically, Gordon), so I chose Johnson. It paid off almost immediately as he won the pole for his first Daytona 500 and found victory lane in California a few months later (he also swept Dover his rookie season and finished 5th in points). The G.O.A.T. if he had raced full-time every season would have been David Pearson and he is still in the top 5 in my mind with the accomplishments he achieved. With all of that being said, here is why I put Johnson above those two. First, I will address Jimmie: If there had to be one thing that sets him apart, it is the 5 consecutive championships. I am pretty certain that will never happen again. Johnson is tied with thise two with 7 championships. He also has 83 wins in the most competitive era of NASCAR. In those wins is 2 Daytona 500s, 4 Coca-Cola 600s (including 3 consecutive), 4 Brickyard 400s, 3 wins at Darlington, 4 consecutive wins (Earnhardt also did this, but with slightly less competition). I keep mentioning that, so I will explain that during Petty's reign the average number of cars on the lead lap at the end of a race was 8, it was 14 in Eaenhardt's era, and 26 in Jimmie's era. There were just a handful of drivers with a realistic shot to win each in Petty's era, maybe 10 in Earnhardt's, and 15 in Johnson's (think the Chase and playoff drivers). Johnson also won on every track he raced except for Chicagoland, Watkins Glen, and his one Rockingham race). There are other stats, but I will leave it with the additional 4 All-Star wins and a couple of Bud Shootouts/Clashes. Regarding Earnhardt, he was definitely the more aggressive, exciting, and more consistent than Johnson. He was likely the most loved and hated of the three. He will always hold a place in fans hearts and will always be in this conversation. Finally, Petty is hard to argue with as far as stats. The reason I give Petty less credit with all of his u touchable stats is that he did this in a time where you race what you brought and the team with the most money won because they could afford better equipment. Cheating was also not monitored nearly as much. He also accumulated a lot of those wins by simply racing more (multiple times per week in his early career) and for a longer time (27 years). His competition was basically just David Pearson, Bobby Allison, Cale Yarborough, and DW and Earnhardt later in his career. In Johnson's era, just think about how many other drivers that were extremely competitive every week: Gordon, Stewart, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Kevin Harvick, Dale, Jr., Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Truex, Jr., Brad Keselowski, etc. No doubt that Petty and Earnhardt are absolutely in the G.O.A.T. conversation, but that is my reasons for putting Johnson ahead of them. Like I said, it is very debatable.

Although there was a "lot going on" when I was driving my friends Mercedes-Benz AMG on the autobahn through Germany's Black Forest at 148 mph... I cannot even imagine (nor do I ever want to) my hands on the steering wheel, driving an open cockpit fender-less race car around an oval track at 240 mph.

    Say what you want... but Jimmie Johnson has been the most successful driver in Nascar of all time... not the most interesting personally... but between him and Chad Knaus they put together the best team Nascar has ever seen... and it will be along time before a team will equal their perfomance. As an Indy driver, I don't think he will be that successful... he is a family man now and let's face it... he is not going to run the bleeding edge to win like a young buck would... he is a celebrity driver... good for ticket sales perhaps... but if I were him I would retire... let some young person get that ride. He can become a broadcaster and talk about his glory days in Nascar :)

    First of all, I'm so very happy for Marcus. I was so worried for him when the caution came out with 4 laps to go on a commanding lead. Which brings me to my second comment. Jimmy Johnson! He was a pain in the butt in NASCAR and now he's a pain in Indy. He did not need to be in this race. He wanted to participate only as a bucket list before he retires from racing. Because of that, this selfish old rookie almost ruined a win to a driver that was well deserved. Johnson also stayed out from pitting longer than any other driver just so he could say that he led a lap at the Indianapolis 500. Jimmy Johnson is loser as a person and a racer and needs to retire?

    I felt bad for Scott Dixon. It always happens on the final trip to the pits, getting busted for speeding. Many agree with me that Montoya in the 2009 Brickyard 400 was not speeding because others were blowing by him as he entered the pits. Johnson won that event even though he had a winning car, but Montoya's was elite.
