Country singer Jimmie Allen performs "The Thunder Rolls / Friends In Low Places" to honor Garth Brooks during the 43rd Kennedy Center Honors.
“The Kennedy Center Honors serves as a moment to celebrate the remarkable artists who have spent their lives elevating the cultural history of our nation and world,” said Kennedy Center Chairman David M. Rubenstein. “Garth Brooks heightened country music’s profile like no other singer before him.”
Reflective of this unique time in history, the Center’s entire campus came alive with small, in-person events and re-envisioned virtual tributes. Featuring multiple events for physically-distant audiences in locations across the Kennedy Center’s campus including the Front Plaza of the building, the Grand Foyer in front of the John F. Kennedy bust, and the iconic Opera House stage, programs for each event encompassed both performances and speaking tributes for the Honorees.
“This past year has taught us many things including the need to be flexible and adaptable,” stated Kennedy Center President Deborah F. Rutter. “They say necessity is the mother of all invention. The unusual circumstances inspired and opened up new ways for us to present a deeper experience, and hopefully understanding, of the art and lifetime work of our Honorees. 2020 has also shined a bright light on the impact of how art and culture speaks to our collective human experience. It can meet us at any moment-and sustain us during the most challenging days. Each of the 43rd Kennedy Center Honorees and their work continues to speak to American culture and our national fortitude. We are thrilled to be able to fete these cultural icons in a time where the world and the nation needs the arts more than ever.”

Ok let me first by saying I am not a country music fan. I listen to metal. My fiancé loves country music and he asked me to listen to Jimmie Allen. I have to say if music can give me goosebumps then I know there is something special about a musician! Mr. Allen you gained one new fan sir! Keep up the amazing job you are doing. Damn this man is talented. I love how Garth wasn't jealous. I mean, I loved those songs when Garth sang them, but Jimmie just has a special spark. He's amazing. Yes. I'm a fan. No. I don't know how I only discovered him in the last couple of months. But what a delightful discovery.

I just heard Jimmie Allen sing Down Home on Stephen Cobere show. Not only is Jimmie one of the most beautiful men in country music. He has the voice of an angel. His renditions of Garth Brooks songs 🎵 had me dancing !! I am so not comparing Jimmie's sound with Garth's sound. They each have a beautiful voice. I can't choose a favorite because they both do one helluva great job and I enjoy both of their voices. Jimmie, can't wait to hear more from you. I know you will be around for a long time with a voice like yours ❤
Absolutely great, especially on Friends In Low Places. I don't care for other song no matter who sings it, the tune of it not my type. Mr. Allen has a nice voice, shown here. Just keep it country!

I think he is a great singer. I had no idea what he looked like until today. I just kept playing his other song, If freedom was a highway, and I think he is excellent, with a lot of passion for his art.

@Constitutions Way. I respect your opinion. However, I do think adding "he is famous because of skin color" is extremely rude and disrespectful. He writes songs for other artist and writes songs for himself. I think he sings very well, but aside from that it is about the lyrics and the emotions that the song invokes. Reducing his talent to skin color makes you sound like a bigot! All of his songs I have heard thus far, are really great lyrically and invoke emotions.
