That's the same conclusion I came to, that Fredette is one of those guys who can only be effective if the team is built around his offensive skillset. There was another guy named Walter Berry who was a lottery pick a generation earlier, played three seasons in the NBA and averaged about 14ppg, then spent 13 more years in Europe putting up video game stats. He never got another shot at the NBA because teams knew he wouldn't, and probably couldn't, play a secondary role.

Also nobody though Jimmer was gonna be the next Curry. Curry only got popular in like 2013 when he scored like 10 threes against the Knicks and he players were only compared to Curry and called “ The Next Curry “ after the Warriors had won a championship.

He might not have gotten popular until 2013, but Curry was good from day one. It was just that the warriors were trash then and he had issues with his ankles that had him missing alot of time. It might not have meant the same thing then as it does now, but I could see scouts making that comparison.(Of course they were still WAY off....)

Case in point: Stephon Marbury was clearly done in the NBA (too slow to drive, not accurate enough as a reliable shooter, lost his court vision to be effective passer, i.e., done), but he went to China and "dominated" for many years, and I think even won the MVP in China (playing well into his 40s). @Adrian Ang... You have no idea who Marbury is if you think a prime Marbury is a great matchup for Fredette. A great matchup for Fredette would be Kirk Hinrich or Norris Cole, in which a believe both would beat him. Against prime Marbury, it’s would be a slaughter, no challenge for Marbury.

I think what it ultimately came down to is Jimmer knowing that by going into the NBA he'd never be the same player he was in college. He values having the ball in his hands, getting playing time, and being dominant over getting paid more by sitting on the bench and getting like 10 minutes of play time in the NBA. He's a guy who truly loves basketball from my perspective. Call him selfish for calling the NBA teams stupid for not having him be the center of their franchise all you want but in reality one of the teams should've given him a fair shot just based on the fact that Jimmer knows what he brings to the table with his talent and mental toughness. His college resume is one of a kind and it was sad for me to see him lose his final game to Florida in the Sweet 16 cause he played a hell of a game that day.

Simple answer is that the gap is huge between Euroleague and CBA, let alone the NBA and CBA.

In his final 3 seasons in the NBA, in two of the seasons he averaged over 47% from 3 and 46% overall. He's just didn't get the minutes. The assistant coach that said that is a known jimmer hater. His teammates and other coaches all loved him.

Daniel Hall He wasn’t a good inside scorer and isn’t a good shot creator in the NBA. In every other league than the NBA everyone is less athletic and his height can affect him especially if he’s playing shooting guard

Jimmer can put up numbers in the NBA honestly any player can if their allowed to take as many shots as they want. The question is can a team win with Jimmer taking those shots and having the offense revolve around him. I mean in college sure he was able to get wins but the NBA is a different beast.

@@fnadex01 The CBA doesn't have a huge market in China. Sure the local cities might give some token support, but Chinese fans watch the NBA more often than the CBA.

I just started looking into it but i want to see a deep dive into the difference between Jimmer and Klay Thompson. I think an organizations ability to draft the right players and utilize them properly is huge when it comes to a players career which is pretty obvious.

You should do a “What If” where you rebuild some terrible team (Brooklyn, Orlando, Sacramento) by drafting the Duke Freshmen (Zion, RJ, Cam, and Tre). Just trade whatever you need to get the picks. Zion and RJ usually go 1/2, you can usually grab Cam 5 or 6, and Tre in the second round. Or do sign and trades to pick them all up. I think it’d be fun/interesting to see how they would compete against NBA competition. Just a thought. Love your content. Keep it up.

Honestly being a basketball god in China doesn't sound bad at all. You have a whole country that respects your skills, you get to play the game the way you want, you make decent money, and your name will be remembered by millions of people. Basketball is really popular in China and if their league ever takes off he'll be remembered as someone who was really important. Sounds pretty great actually.

Were they saying things like "He's gonna be THE NEXT Steph curry?" I just find that hard to believe seeming as how Steph curry was not a big name at all when Jimmer was drafted. They were more likely to compare him to Ray allen or Larry Bird, not Steph.

If I was Jimmer, I would never leave China. My basketball career would be spent there. If Jimmer ended up leaving China, he should only go to another country. He should not try to get back into the NBA. With the numbers which Jimmer is putting up in China, there would be no need to come back to the NBA. His NBA Numbers would be nowhere close to what his China Numbers have been. Personally, I wonder if Jimmer would be able to make it in the NBA. With his first attempt in the NBA, Jimmer failed. I just cannot imagine him succeeding a second time around. Therefore, there is no reason to mess up a good thing. Like I previously stated, if Jimmer ended up leaving China, he should go to another foreign country. In order to continue his professional basketball career, a move back to the United States would be an unwise decision.
