How could Jimmer Fredette be looked at as the next Steph Curry at that time, when Steph Curry wasn't even considered the first Steph Curry yet?

Jimmer's game relies on him being super ball-dominant like James Harden, but he's not good enough to merit dominating the ball in the NBA. He can light it up in lesser leagues, but lacks the ability to transition to a lesser role while still being useful, which is what he'd need to do to be an NBA player.

That's the same conclusion I came to, that Fredette is one of those guys who can only be effective if the team is built around his offensive skillset. There was another guy named Walter Berry who was a lottery pick a generation earlier, played three seasons in the NBA and averaged about 14ppg, then spent 13 more years in Europe putting up video game stats. He never got another shot at the NBA because teams knew he wouldn't, and probably couldn't, play a secondary role.

I am not sure if you know this but Dallas was going to take Giannis @ pick 13. However Mark Cuban overruled Donnie Nelson, head of the scouting Dept, and traded down to 18 for cap space to be able to sign Dwight Howard in FA. Dominating in China is like me saying I dominated little kids in the play ground, sign me up NBA! Case in point: Stephon Marbury was clearly done in the NBA (too slow to drive, not accurate enough as a reliable shooter, lost his court vision to be effective passer, i.e., done), but he went to China and "dominated" for many years, and I think even won the MVP in China (playing well into his 40s). Yi Jianlian, who can't get off the bench playing for the Mavericks, is considered a "top 5 player" in China. Enough said.

I think what it ultimately came down to is Jimmer knowing that by going into the NBA he'd never be the same player he was in college. He values having the ball in his hands, getting playing time, and being dominant over getting paid more by sitting on the bench and getting like 10 minutes of play time in the NBA. He's a guy who truly loves basketball from my perspective. Call him selfish for calling the NBA teams stupid for not having him be the center of their franchise all you want but in reality one of the teams should've given him a fair shot just based on the fact that Jimmer knows what he brings to the table with his talent and mental toughness. His college resume is one of a kind and it was sad for me to see him lose his final game to Florida in the Sweet 16 cause he played a hell of a game that day.

In his final 3 seasons in the NBA, in two of the seasons he averaged over 47% from 3 and 46% overall. He's just didn't get the minutes. The assistant coach that said that is a known jimmer hater. His teammates and other coaches all loved him.

Jimmer can put up numbers in the NBA honestly any player can if their allowed to take as many shots as they want. The question is can a team win with Jimmer taking those shots and having the offense revolve around him. I mean in college sure he was able to get wins but the NBA is a different beast.

Wait wait back up. From the jump, NO ONE, NO ONE, except now mike, _EVER compared Jimmer to Wardell Curry, not even Wardell Sr, let alone, Wardell JR, aka Steph._ *Why would anyone be saying Jimmer could be the NEXT... 3rd year player who only played 30% of the season, never avg more than 2 made 3ptrs a game over 3 season, and his avg scoring has dropped from18 to 14ppg?* No one ever brought up Curry with Jimmer, no1 carried about Curry then either. _It was friggin Ellis's team still, I live Oakland, that was Ellis and Lee's team, why compare Jimmer to a #3 guy on a total TRASH team?_ Lets stop trying to compare, and def not pretend to compare ppl to outliers, No, Zion, nor anyone else will ever be the next LEBRON. And No one cared about Curry outside of the Bay area until 2013ish, no one compares a lottery nowadays to Jamal Murray or Thon Maker... thats the equivalent of jimmer drawing curry comparisons at the time. Lol GSW and Curry were so off the map, I used to get tix to the game, lower level, for $30-45. Sometimes 2 for 50 if it was the knicks or portland. Exact same ticket now costs $350. Just like the tickets steph blew up, but back then a curry comp would had honestly been INSULTING to the Jimmer

So youre saying everyone knew that, when steph played 26 games all season and klay was scoring 12 a game? lol wrong. And calm down buddy NO ONE was insulting your idol wardell, it was a comment about jimmer and comparing him. Your idol is good now, but I live in Oak, used to see him and ellis play... sitting in the lower level... for $28. He wasnt always what he is now, and that's okay.

You should do a “What If” where you rebuild some terrible team (Brooklyn, Orlando, Sacramento) by drafting the Duke Freshmen (Zion, RJ, Cam, and Tre). Just trade whatever you need to get the picks. Zion and RJ usually go 1/2, you can usually grab Cam 5 or 6, and Tre in the second round. Or do sign and trades to pick them all up. I think it’d be fun/interesting to see how they would compete against NBA competition. Just a thought. Love your content. Keep it up.

Honestly being a basketball god in China doesn't sound bad at all. You have a whole country that respects your skills, you get to play the game the way you want, you make decent money, and your name will be remembered by millions of people. Basketball is really popular in China and if their league ever takes off he'll be remembered as someone who was really important. Sounds pretty great actually.

Were they saying things like "He's gonna be THE NEXT Steph curry?" I just find that hard to believe seeming as how Steph curry was not a big name at all when Jimmer was drafted. They were more likely to compare him to Ray allen or Larry Bird, not Steph.

If I was Jimmer, I would never leave China. My basketball career would be spent there. If Jimmer ended up leaving China, he should only go to another country. He should not try to get back into the NBA. With the numbers which Jimmer is putting up in China, there would be no need to come back to the NBA. His NBA Numbers would be nowhere close to what his China Numbers have been. Personally, I wonder if Jimmer would be able to make it in the NBA. With his first attempt in the NBA, Jimmer failed. I just cannot imagine him succeeding a second time around. Therefore, there is no reason to mess up a good thing. Like I previously stated, if Jimmer ended up leaving China, he should go to another foreign country. In order to continue his professional basketball career, a move back to the United States would be an unwise decision.
